HYBRID Staff Fullstack Java Engineer

Position Overview We are seeking a Staff Engineer to drive the architecture and delivery of a high-scale SaaS platform. This role combines deep hands-on development with technical leadership: you will design and implement core backend services, lead front-end development efforts, influence product and platform roadmaps, and mentor engineering teams to deliver reliable, secure, and performant systems. You will be a primary owner of technical strategy, cross-team collaboration, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement backend services and APIs using Java and Spring to meet scalability, reliability, and maintainability goals.
• Design and build rich, responsive user interfaces with TypeScript and React, collaborating with UX and product teams to deliver great user experiences.
• Lead system design and technical decision-making across teams; create and review design documents, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts.
• Drive full lifecycle delivery for SaaS features, including requirements analysis, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-release monitoring.
• Champion best practices for code quality, testing, observability, CI/CD, and security; conduct and participate in code reviews and technical onboarding.
• Mentor and grow engineers through hands-on coaching, technical guidance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and operations stakeholders to prioritize work, define SLAs, and ensure successful launches.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes to improve system resilience.
• Advocate for and adopt new technologies when they deliver measurable improvements to reliability, performance, or developer productivity.

Qualifications

• Extensive professional experience building production services and web applications (typically 8+ years) with a proven track record of technical leadership.
• Expertise in Java and Spring for building backend services and APIs (required).
• Strong experience with TypeScript and React for building front-end applications (required).
• Prior experience building, operating, or contributing to SaaS products and multi-tenant systems (required).
• Solid understanding of system design, distributed systems, performance optimization, and observability practices.
• Proficiency with RESTful APIs, data modeling, and working with relational databases; familiarity with MariaDB is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure (AWS preferred) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Familiarity with streaming platforms such as Kafka and systems programming with Rust are nice-to-have skills.
• Excellent communication, cross-team collaboration, and mentorship abilities; able to influence technical direction and drive consensus.
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
