HAL Ship Management LLC, operating under the HAL Marine brand, provides marine engineering, hydraulic repair, equipment overhauling, and technical maintenance solutions to the maritime and offshore industries.

We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Marine Hydraulic Engineer to join our technical team. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, testing, and commissioning marine hydraulic equipment used onboard vessels and in workshop environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul marine hydraulic systems and equipment.
• Carry out inspection, servicing, and overhauling of hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, control valves, directional control valves, and hydraulic power packs.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on anchor windlasses, mooring winches, deck cranes, steering gear systems, and other hydraulic deck machinery.
• Dismantle equipment, inspect internal components, identify defects, and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
• Conduct dimensional inspections, assess component wear, and identify the root causes of hydraulic equipment failures.
• Perform hydraulic pressure testing, leakage testing, functional testing, and performance verification after repairs.
• Carry out onboard vessel inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities when required.
• Prepare technical inspection reports, service reports, repair recommendations, and job completion reports.
• Identify required spare parts, seals, bearings, and other components and coordinate with the procurement team.
• Interpret hydraulic circuit diagrams, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
• Ensure all repair and testing activities comply with applicable safety procedures and technical requirements.
• Coordinate with workshop technicians, service teams, operations, and project personnel to complete jobs within agreed timelines.
• Provide technical support for quotations, repair assessments, job scopes, and customer enquiries.
• Maintain workshop tools, testing equipment, and technical records in good working condition.
• Travel to ports, shipyards, and offshore or marine facilities within the UAE as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in marine hydraulic systems, hydraulic equipment repair, or industrial hydraulics.
• Strong practical knowledge of hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, control valves, hydraulic power packs, and hydraulic circuits.
• Experience overhauling marine deck machinery, including anchor windlasses, mooring winches, deck cranes, and steering gear systems, is highly preferred.
• Ability to dismantle, inspect, repair, assemble, and test hydraulic equipment independently.
• Experience with hydraulic pressure testing, troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
• Familiarity with hydraulic seals, bearings, tolerances, clearances, and component measurement techniques.
• Experience preparing technical inspection reports, service reports, and material requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in workshop and onboard environments.
• Good communication skills and the ability to coordinate with customers and technical teams.
• Valid UAE driving licence is an advantage.
• Candidates with UAE marine workshop, shipyard, or vessel maintenance experience will be given preference.

Preferred Technical Experience

• Hydraulic pump and motor overhauling.
• Directional control valve inspection and repair.
• Hydraulic cylinder overhauling and seal replacement.
• Deck crane hydraulic system troubleshooting.
• Anchor windlass and mooring winch maintenance.
• Hydraulic power pack servicing and pressure testing.
• Onboard hydraulic fault diagnosis and emergency repair support.
