Hydro-excavator / Excavator Operator

About the role

NUD Enviroworks is looking for an experienced Hydro-Excavator / Excavator Operator to join the team in Whangārei. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident operating hydro-excavation equipment and excavators, takes pride in their work and is happy to get stuck in and help wherever needed. There is a range of exciting civil, infrastructure, drilling and hydro-excavation projects underway, with the opportunity for ongoing work for the right person.

Key responsibilities

• Operating hydro-excavation equipment for service locating, potholing and non-destructive excavation
• Excavating around existing underground services including gas, electrical, water, sewer and telecommunications
• Operating excavators for trenching, earthworks, drainage and general civil construction
• Loading, backfilling, trimming and site preparation
• Working safely around existing infrastructure and services
• Completing plant pre-starts and looking after company equipment
• Maintaining a high standard of workmanship
• Assisting with general labouring and other site duties when required
• Working as part of a team to keep projects moving and minimise downtime

About you

• Proven experience operating a hydro-excavator
• Experienced and competent excavator operator
• Holds the appropriate NZ driver's licence, preferably Class 4
• Relevant plant competencies and/or experience
• Understands the importance of working safely around underground services
• Reliable, punctual and has a strong work ethic
• Takes pride in work and equipment
• Can work independently but also enjoys being part of a team
• Willing to get off the machine and help with general labouring when required
• Flexible and able to work across different projects and locations
