Location: Sharjah, UAE
Job Type: Full-time – In Person

We are looking for a Hydrostatic Test Technician / Hydrotest Technician with practical hands-on experience in performing hydrostatic pressure tests.

This position is suitable for a technician who has previously worked with pipe hydrotesting, pressure testing, valves, fittings, pipelines, or similar pressure-tested products.

We are not looking for an engineer or senior inspection specialist. We are looking for a practical technician who knows how to prepare and perform a hydrostatic test correctly and safely.

Main Responsibilities

The technician will be responsible for:

  • Preparing pipes or products for hydrostatic pressure testing.
  • Connecting water pumps, pressure gauges, hoses, valves, fittings, and test equipment.
  • Filling the test system with water.
  • Properly removing trapped air from the system before pressurization.
  • Increasing pressure gradually and safely.
  • Reaching and maintaining the required test pressure.
  • Monitoring pressure during the required holding time.
  • Checking for:
  • Leakage
  • Pressure drop
  • Deformation
  • Abnormal movement or behavior
  • Failure of the tested product
  • Safely releasing pressure after completion of the test.
  • Recording pressure readings and basic test results.
  • Following test procedures and safety instructions.
  • Checking that pressure gauges and testing equipment are suitable and in valid condition before testing.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe hydrotesting area.

Required Experience

The candidate must have previous practical experience performing hydrostatic pressure tests.

Experience may be from any of the following areas:

  • Pipes and pipelines
  • Pipe fabrication
  • Valves
  • Flanges and fittings
  • Pressure equipment
  • Water or wastewater projects
  • Oil & gas projects
  • Manufacturing companies
  • Hydrotesting contractors
  • Industrial testing workshops

The candidate should be able to perform a hydrostatic test with normal supervision and understand the complete testing process from preparation until safe depressurization.

Required Knowledge

The candidate must understand:

  • Hydrostatic pressure testing procedures
  • Removal of trapped air before pressurization
  • Gradual pressurization
  • Test pressure and working pressure
  • Holding time
  • Pressure drop
  • Leakage inspection
  • Safe depressurization
  • Basic pressure gauge reading
  • Basic test result recording
  • Risks associated with pressurized systems

Safety

Safety is very important for this position.

The candidate must understand that hydrostatic testing involves stored pressure and must know how to:

  • Keep personnel away from unsafe areas during testing.
  • Never stand directly in front of plugs, end closures, fittings, or other pressurized components.
  • Inspect connections before pressurizing.
  • Stop the test if leakage, movement, deformation, or any unsafe condition is observed.
  • Release pressure safely before approaching or adjusting the tested product.
  • Use the required PPE and follow test-area safety instructions.

Qualifications

  • Technical certificate, diploma, vocational training, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
  • Previous hands-on hydrotesting experience is required.
  • Basic English communication is required.
  • Ability to read pressure gauges and simple test procedures is required.

Formal engineering qualifications are not required.

Preferred Experience

Experience testing any of the following will be considered an advantage:

  • Pipes
  • Pipe fittings
  • Valves
