Hydrovac Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate hydrovac trucks with precision to excavate soil and debris around underground utilities and structures
• Conduct thorough pre-operation inspections of equipment, ensuring all safety features are functional
• Use auxiliary heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, graders, and pavers as needed for site preparation and support
• Follow detailed safety protocols during all operations to protect yourself, team members, and the surrounding environment
• Assist with setup and breakdown of work zones, including traffic control and site cleanup
• Maintain accurate logs of daily operations, equipment usage, and safety checks
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform basic maintenance on heavy machinery

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, backhoes, and pavers in construction or utility environments
• Mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform routine inspections and minor repairs on heavy machinery including Caterpillar equipment
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record for operating hydrovac trucks and other vehicles
• Familiarity with horizontal drilling techniques is a plus but not required
• Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures and protocols
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining high energy levels and focus
• Must be able to work out of town
• Prior experience in construction projects involving paving or underground utility installation is advantageous

Pay: $24.89-$35.00 per hour
