Duties

• Operate hydrovac trucks and related equipment with precision, ensuring safe excavation around underground utilities and structures
• Conduct thorough pre-operation inspections of all equipment, including hoses, tanks, and controls, to guarantee optimal performance
• Follow detailed project plans and site-specific safety protocols during excavation activities
• Communicate effectively with team members, site supervisors, and clients to coordinate work activities and ensure smooth operations
• Maintain accurate records of daily work activities, including hours worked, materials used, and site conditions
• Perform routine maintenance checks on hydrovac equipment to prevent breakdowns and extend machinery lifespan
• Assist with site cleanup and ensure all work areas are left safe and compliant with environmental regulations

Skills

• Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, graders, and paving machinery
• Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues quickly on-site
• Skilled in the operation of machinery
• Ability to operate additional construction equipment including horizontal drills and other specialized tools
• Valid DZ driver’s license with experience in heavy vehicle operation for transporting equipment safely
• Knowledge of construction practices, safety standards, and environmental regulations related to excavation work
• Familiarity with construction site protocols and ability to adapt quickly in a fast-moving environment
• Keep a safe and organized work area
