About the Role

Seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our outpatient Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine team in Port Charlotte, Florida. In this role, you will provide advanced, evidence-based care for patients with chronic, non-healing wounds and deliver hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in our outpatient center.

Serving Charlotte County's large retirement community, our team treats diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, pressure injuries, arterial ulcers, surgical wounds, osteoradionecrosis, and other complex wounds — helping patients heal, stay mobile, and maintain their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning for patients with acute and chronic wounds
  • Provide direct wound care, including sharp/enzymatic/autolytic debridement, application of topical therapies, cellular and tissue-based products, compression therapy, and total contact casts
  • Evaluate patients as candidates for hyperbaric oxygen therapy; determine and document appropriate HBOT treatment plans (typically UHMS-approved indications)
  • Supervise and monitor patients during HBOT sessions; assess for contraindications and manage potential complications (barotrauma, oxygen toxicity, claustrophobia)
  • Perform and interpret noninvasive vascular studies, transcutaneous oximetry (TcPO2), and other diagnostic tests
  • Order and interpret labs and imaging; prescribe medications and durable medical equipment within Florida APRN scope of practice
  • Collaborate with physicians, podiatry, vascular surgery, infectious disease, physical therapy, home health, and referring primary care providers
  • Provide patient, family, and caregiver education on wound prevention, offloading, nutrition, and diabetes management
  • Document care accurately and timely in the EMR in accordance with regulatory and billing standards
  • Support center quality metrics (healing rates, patient satisfaction) and compliance with Joint Commission, UHMS, and state standards

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (MSN or DNP)
  • Current Florida APRN license with prescriptive authority, or eligibility for Florida licensure
  • Current DEA registration (or eligibility)
  • Wound care certification: CWCN, WCC, CWCA, or CWOCN
  • Hyperbaric credential (CHT or CHRN from NBDHMT, or UHMS-approved hyperbaric training);
  • BLS certification (AHA); ACLS preferred
  • 2+ years of NP experience, including wound care, critical care, emergency, or vascular experience
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills
  • Experience in an outpatient wound center or hyperbaric unit
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
