IB Tutor

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field is preferred.
• Must have actual experience working with or teaching students under the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
• Must have prior experience as a tutor, teacher, academic coach, or learning support instructor.
• Strong tutoring experience in Mathematics and English is required, with Math and English being the primary subjects for this position.
• Familiarity with IB MYP and/or IB DP is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of IB learning objectives, assessment requirements, and academic standards is an advantage.
• Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
• Strong understanding of Mathematics and the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and effectively.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods according to the student's academic level, learning style, and specific needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, responsible, organized, and professional when dealing with students and parents/guardians.
• Must be reliable and able to commit to a minimum of two (2) hours of tutoring per day.
• Previous experience preparing students for IB assessments, examinations, or academic requirements is a strong advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring to students following the IB curriculum.
2. Provide academic support primarily in Mathematics and English.
3. Assess the student's academic level, strengths, weaknesses, and areas requiring improvement.
4. Prepare and conduct structured tutoring sessions based on the student's IB level and learning requirements.
5. Explain mathematical concepts, problem-solving methods, English concepts, reading comprehension, writing, and other relevant topics clearly and effectively.
6. Assist students with homework, assignments, projects, examinations, and IB-related academic requirements.
7. Prepare appropriate learning materials, exercises, reviewers, and practice activities.
8. Help students develop critical thinking, analytical skills, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective study habits.
9. Monitor and document the student's academic progress throughout the tutoring period.
10. Provide constructive feedback and recommend areas for further improvement.
11. Coordinate with parents/guardians and/or Management regarding the student's progress and academic needs when necessary.
12. Maintain professionalism, punctuality, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries when working with students.
13. Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, attendance, topics covered, and student progress.
14. Stay familiar with the student's specific IB subjects, curriculum requirements, and assessment expectations.
15. Perform other reasonable tutoring-related duties as may be assigned by Management.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate must have:

• Actual IB teaching/tutoring experience
• Strong experience in Mathematics tutoring
• Strong experience in English tutoring
• Good understanding of the IB curriculum
• Availability for a minimum of 2 hours per day
• Strong English communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with students and adjust teaching strategies based on their individual needs
