IBM MQ System Administrator

For our client, we are seeking a IBM MQ System Administrator to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role will support enterprise messaging infrastructure and help ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing integration across critical systems. The administrator will work closely with application, infrastructure, and operations teams to maintain availability, streamline file transfer processes, and resolve complex messaging issues. The position also includes automation and monitoring work that will improve operational efficiency and support controlled changes in a regulated enterprise environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Design and configure IBM MQ clusters for optimal performance and high availability
• Manage IBM MQ Managed File Transfer (MFT) setups and secure file movement
• Perform routine maintenance tasks including log management and security configuration
• Plan and execute MQ version upgrades, ensuring compatibility and validation
• Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell and Linux shell scripting
• Develop custom monitoring solutions and scripts for MQ health checks
• Debug MQ applications to resolve message flow issues and diagnose errors

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience as an IBM MQ System Administrator
• Strong expertise in IBM MQ cluster configuration and support
• Proficient in IBM MQ Managed File Transfer (MFT) setup and management
• Experience with routine MQ maintenance tasks including patching and performance tuning
• Skilled in PowerShell and Linux shell scripting for automation
• Ability to troubleshoot complex MQ application issues and resolve MQRC errors
• Familiarity with enterprise environments and strict change control processes
