IBM Planning Analytics Consultant (Managed Services)

The role

PMsquare is growing its South African Planning Analytics team to support a
growing book of managed services work. This is a support and maintenance role
rather than a pure project delivery role, which means the work is steadier and
more predictable than typical consulting: you will own the health of live
Planning Analytics environments for our clients.

Day to day, that looks like triaging incidents, fixing and extending TI
processes, maintaining cubes and dimensions, supporting finance users through
month-end and planning cycles, keeping documentation current, and working to
defined SLAs. Some project work will come your way as well, but the core of the
job is keeping client models running properly.

You will report to and work directly with Jackie, who leads our Planning Analytics practice in South Africa. This is not a role where you get handed a client and left alone.

What you need on day one

• Hands-on experience in a live Planning Analytics or TM1 environment. You have built or maintained TI processes, worked with cubes and dimensions, and you can
• read rules and feeders without guessing.
• Experience supporting real finance users through a real planning, budgeting, or forecasting cycle. You understand what a business is trying to do when it
• builds a budget, not just how to build the cube.
• Strong Excel. Planning Analytics for Excel experience is a plus but we can teach it.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Clear written and spoken English, and the confidence to talk to a client directly about a problem in their model.

What we will teach you

You do not need all of this to apply. Coming in with some of it helps, but we expect to build these with you:

• Installing and configuring Planning Analytics, including Planning Analytics Workspace
• Planning Analytics Workspace book design
• Integration with IBM Cognos Analytics, including publishing packages
• Managed services practice: SLA management, incident handling, change control
• Client-facing scoping and requirements work

Hours and travel

South African business hours primarily, but because many of our clients are in the United States, you will need to be available for some late afternoon and early evening calls. In practice that means flexing time to cover some recurring meetings running to around 18:00 or 19:00 SAST, and occasional calls later in the evening.

No travel expected.

Pay: R480 000,00 - R700 000,00 per year
