Ice Skating Instructor

Job Overview:

This position works at the City’s Ice Rink, located at 345 Illick’s Mill Rd, and is responsible for providing fun and safe instruction to students in the Bethlehem Skating School. This position is seasonal running from November through March. Shifts are Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30 p.m. - 5:45 p.m., Wednesdays 1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.

Duties:

Provides instruction of ice skating curriculum to students between the age 3 to 17; assists parent and skaters with questions and concerns; maintain attendance and evaluation records during the season; assist with other duties as needed (handing out skates, etc.).

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Previous experience as a skating instructor is preferred.
• Must possess current knowledge and understanding of ice skating fundamentals.
• Must pass a criminal background investigation (including Child Abuse, FBI, and PA State Police backgrounds).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work well with youth ages 3 to 17 in group settings providing instruction, demonstrating skate skills, planning lessons, and evaluating participant skills in group settings; ability to ice skate and assist youth skaters of all levels and abilities; familiarity with Learn to Skate USA or ISI curriculum; good communication skills.
