As part of its continued growth and increasing technical accounting requirements, the company is seeking an experienced IFRS Technical Finance Manager to join its Corporate Finance team based in Hamburg.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Group Reporting and Technical Accounting, the IFRS Technical Finance Manager will serve as the subject matter expert for International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) across the Group.

The role will provide technical accounting leadership on complex transactions, acquisitions, business restructurings, financing arrangements, and emerging accounting standards while supporting the integrity of external financial reporting and compliance throughout the global organisation.

This is a highly visible position offering significant interaction with senior finance leadership, operational management, auditors, and executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Accounting & IFRS Advisory

• Act as the Group's principal technical accounting expert for IFRS matters.
• Research, interpret, and implement new and revised IFRS standards.
• Prepare and maintain Group accounting policies and technical accounting papers.
• Provide accounting guidance on complex and non-routine transactions.
• Assess accounting implications relating to:
• Revenue recognition (IFRS 15)
• Leasing arrangements (IFRS 16)
• Financial instruments (IFRS 9)
• Business combinations (IFRS 3)
• Impairment reviews (IAS 36)
• Consolidation and control assessments (IFRS 10)
• Joint arrangements and associates (IFRS 11 and IAS 28)

Group Reporting

• Support quarterly, half-year and annual consolidated financial reporting processes.
• Review financial statement disclosures and ensure compliance with IFRS requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of annual reports and published financial statements.
• Drive continuous improvements in reporting quality and efficiency.

Mergers & Acquisitions

• Lead technical accounting assessments for acquisitions and strategic investments.
• Manage purchase price allocation exercises and acquisition accounting.
• Evaluate goodwill and intangible asset recognition.
• Support finance due diligence activities and integration projects.

Governance & Controls

• Partner with Internal Audit and Group Finance teams to strengthen financial controls.
• Support implementation of accounting governance frameworks across international entities.
• Review accounting treatments adopted by regional finance teams.
• Provide technical guidance during external audit reviews.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as the key liaison with external auditors on technical accounting matters.
• Present accounting position papers to senior leadership and Executive Management.
• Deliver IFRS training and coaching to finance teams across the Group.
• Build strong relationships with business and finance stakeholders globally.

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, Wirtschaftsprüfer, CA or equivalent).
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
• 6-10+ years of relevant experience gained within:
• Big 4 Audit/Advisory; and/or
• Technical accounting functions within large multinational organisations.
• Deep practical knowledge of IFRS and Group Reporting.
• Experience preparing technical accounting position papers.
• Strong understanding of complex accounting transactions and consolidations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to multi-billion euro international groups.
• Experience supporting M&A transactions.
• Knowledge of German statutory reporting requirements.
• Experience working within shared services or international service-based businesses.
• Familiarity with SAP, OneStream, Hyperion, or similar group reporting systems.
