What they need
Overview The Imaging Team Lead oversees daily operations for device imaging, hardware configuration, system testing, staging, inventory coordination, and IT equipment deployment readiness. This hands-on leadership role manages a team of three junior and two senior systems engineers, ensuring efficient workflows, resolving technical and operational challenges, and improving processes to support current and future program needs. The ideal candidate combines IT systems engineering, hardware deployment, device imaging, and team leadership experience with strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Success requires a proactive, humble, and curious leader who can learn complex processes, prioritize backlogged work, advocate for the team, and partner effectively with stakeholders and leadership.
Duties
- Lead daily Imaging & Logistics operations, including work intake, prioritization, imaging execution, testing, staging, inventory coordination, and shipment readiness.
- Provide day-to-day leadership for three junior systems engineers and two senior systems engineers, helping balance workload, clarify priorities, and support consistent execution.
- Serve as the primary operational voice and advocate for the Imaging team on stakeholder calls, internal planning discussions, escalation reviews, and cross-functional meetings.
- Develop and maintain forecasting methods to anticipate demand, capacity, staffing needs, equipment constraints, and delivery risks across slow, normal, and peak volume periods.
- Support the development of tools, trackers, reporting views, and operational dashboards that improve visibility into throughput, backlog, risks, dependencies, and upcoming demand.
- Identify, prioritize, and drive process improvement opportunities that help the team scale, reduce rework, improve quality, and create more predictable delivery outcomes.
- Coordinate facility, workstation, imaging bench, network, equipment, and related maintenance needs to keep the operation stable, safe, and productive.
- Lead or coordinate response activities during outages, crisis events, urgent escalations, equipment failures, or other operational disruptions impacting imaging or deployment readiness.
- Build staffing plans that account for changing volumes, team availability, access requirements, cross-training opportunities, and the need to flex support during high-demand periods.
- Create an environment where the team is heard, supported, and empowered to raise issues, recommend improvements, and participate in the evolution of the operation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience leading technical, logistics, imaging, warehouse, infrastructure, or operational support teams in a hands-on execution environment.
- Strong operational judgment with the ability to prioritize competing work, manage escalations, and keep teams focused during periods of changing demand.
- Demonstrated ability to listen, ask questions, learn complex processes, and translate team feedback into practical action plans.
- Ability to communicate professionally with stakeholders, leadership, engineers, operations teams, and cross-functional partners.
- Experience using data, trackers, or reporting tools to forecast workload, monitor throughput, identify constraints, and support staffing decisions.
- Strong organization, follow-through, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain required state, federal, customer, or agency-specific security clearances, background investigations, fingerprinting, and access credentials as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with device imaging, hardware deployment, asset management, inventory control, or technology logistics operations.
- Experience developing operational tools, dashboards, capacity models, work trackers, or forecasting templates.
- Familiarity with regulated, government, security-sensitive, or customer-facing technology programs.
- Experience supporting outage response, crisis coordination, incident management, or operational recovery activities.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust with technical teams by learning the environment before recommending changes.
