Help Keep Alaska's Supply Chain Moving

Alaska Milk Corporation is looking for an Impex Officer to manage import and export operations, ensuring the seamless movement of goods while maintaining full compliance with government regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.

This role is critical in coordinating with customs brokers, logistics service providers, warehouses, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient shipment processing, accurate documentation, timely clearances, and effective cost management.

What You'll Do

Manage Import & Export Operations

• Oversee assigned import and export shipments from origin to final delivery.
• Ensure shipments are processed in compliance with customs regulations, government requirements, and company policies.
• Coordinate closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, warehouse teams, and logistics providers to ensure smooth operations.

Documentation & Regulatory Compliance

• Prepare, review, and process all import and export documentation.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of shipping, customs, and regulatory documents.
• Maintain compliance with local and international trade regulations.
• Monitor and update shipment records and documentation for audit readiness.

Customs Clearance & Broker Management

• Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure timely processing and clearance of shipments.
• Monitor broker performance and service levels.
• Resolve shipment issues, delays, customs concerns, and documentation discrepancies.

Shipment Monitoring & Reporting

• Track shipment status and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly shipment reports.
• Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Conduct reviews and follow-up actions to ensure on-time delivery of shipments.

Financial & Billing Management

• Review and validate freight, customs, brokerage, and logistics-related charges.
• Monitor billing accuracy and process shipment-related payments.
• Work with Finance and service providers to resolve billing disputes and discrepancies.
• Support audits and financial compliance activities related to import and export transactions.

Drive Continuous Improvement

• Identify and recommend improvements to logistics and import/export processes.
• Support supply chain projects and operational initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve efficiency, service levels, and cost management.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Customs Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience in import/export operations, customs compliance, freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations.
• Strong knowledge of customs regulations, shipping documentation, and international trade processes.

Preferred Experience

• Experience coordinating with customs brokers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
• Familiarity with import/export documentation, customs clearance procedures, and logistics operations.
• Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, food, or consumer goods industries is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and supply chain systems.
