Import Controller

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To control client’s shipments, liaising with shipping lines, airlines, customs and transporters. To keep clients updated on their shipments with status reports. To ensure that shipments are cleared timorously, to avoid any unnecessary storage and demurrage. while maintaining our core values (Teamwork, Trust, Innovation, Respect, Integrity and Quality) and culture.

Arrange for collection of cargo

• Ensure cargo is collected as per customer’s request.

Secure booking with airline/shipping line

• Check if any inspection or fumigation is required.

On time clearance

• Achieve no less than 95% on time clearance for total shipments handled against the specified timeframes.

To achieve and maintain a 100% on time delivery service level.

• Cargo needs to be timeously delivered to airport/port and storage needs to be avoided at all costs.

On time shipping documents

• All shipping documents dispatched within specified time frame.

To ensure that all queries are dealt with efficiently and are attended to or resolved within 48 hours.

• Revert to clients with solutions.

100% Completeness of L-Shipping

• Ensure each file is closed on L-Shipping after invoicing

To achieve and maintain 95% on time invoicing service level.

• To request charges before delivery to ensure the invoice is generated before or on delivery date.

Reach Monthly and Quarterly Target

• Ensure charges received are correct and loaded accordingly on L-Shipping

Files per minute under 450 minutes

• Ensure files are closed within 450 minutes.

No Customer complaints / Lifelines

• To ensure customer needs are always met.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Matric with Mathematics
• Diploma/Degree in Logistics Management or in Transport and Supply Chain Management and/or relevant Tertiary equivalent qualification.
• 3 - 5 years’ experience in Imports Clearing and Forwarding
