Import Operations Specialist

Some freight forwarding roles ask you to juggle operations, customer service, reporting and everything in between.

We’re representing an established international freight forwarder with long-standing customer relationships and a close-knit New Zealand team based near Auckland Airport.

The role has become available following an internal promotion. It offers a clearly defined operational focus within an experienced, low-turnover team where people are trusted to take ownership of their work.

About the role

You’ll manage import air and ocean shipments from pre-alert through to billing. Your responsibilities will include:

• Registering and maintaining jobs in CargoWise
• Checking documentation and monitoring vessel and aircraft arrivals
• Liaising with overseas agents, airlines, shipping lines and co-loaders
• Coordinating with customs brokers and following up clearance requirements
• Preparing arrival notices, delivery orders and invoices
• Organising deliveries when required
• Managing delays, documentation issues and other operational exceptions
• Responding to internal and external shipment enquiries

Customer reporting and order tracking are managed by a dedicated customer service team and cartage has separate support. This allows you to remain focused on the operational movement and processing of freight while still being capable of coordinating the complete import process when needed.
