Import/Export Logistics Coordinator

Seeking an experienced Import/Export Logistics Coordinator with strong knowledge of international freight forwarding and import/export operations. This position will coordinate shipments from origin through final delivery while maintaining accurate documentation, communicating with customers and overseas partners, and ensuring shipments move efficiently and in compliance with applicable regulations .

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate international import and export shipments , including air and ocean freight.
• Manage shipments from booking and pickup through customs clearance and final delivery.
• Prepare, review, and process import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, air waybills, and arrival notices .
• Communicate with airlines, steamship lines, trucking companies, customs brokers, CFS facilities, warehouses, customers, and overseas agents.
• Track and trace shipments and provide customers with timely status updates.
• Coordinate customs clearance and delivery of imported cargo.
• Review shipment documentation for accuracy and resolve discrepancies before they cause delays.
• Assist with export bookings, routing, documentation, and shipment cutoffs.
• Maintain accurate shipment information and documentation within the company's transportation/freight forwarding system.
• Monitor freight availability, delivery appointments, storage, demurrage, and other potential shipment delays or additional charges.
• Provide excellent customer service and quickly resolve transportation or documentation issues.
• Maintain organized electronic shipment files and ensure all required documentation is complete.
• Follow company procedures and applicable U.S. import/export regulations.
• Work closely with operations, customer service, warehouse, sales, and accounting departments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of import/export, freight forwarding, or international logistics experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of Air Import, Air Export, Ocean Import, and/or Ocean Export operations .
• Understanding of international shipping documentation and customs clearance processes.
• Experience working with freight forwarders, airlines, ocean carriers, customs brokers, trucking companies, and overseas agents.
• Knowledge of Incoterms and international transportation terminology.
• Strong computer and data-entry skills.
• Experience with CargoWise or similar freight forwarding software is a plus.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has hands-on international freight forwarding experience and understands the complete shipment lifecycle. They should be comfortable handling documentation, tracking cargo, communicating with customers and overseas agents, resolving shipment issues, and coordinating with multiple transportation providers to ensure freight arrives on time.

Experience in both Import and Export operations is highly preferred.
