Inclusion Support Staff (Tilbury)

Job Summary

BGC Chatham-Kent is looking for a caring, dependable, and compassionate Inclusion Support Staff member to join our after-school program at our Tilbury site.

This position is focused on supporting youth who require additional assistance with personal care, including toileting and hygiene needs, while helping them participate in the after-school program. The successful candidate will provide respectful, patient, and individualized support while promoting each child’s dignity, independence, safety, and inclusion.

You will work as part of our program team to create a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive environment where every child feels supported and able to participate.

This position requires daily availability from 3:30pm–5:30pm, Monday to Friday, in person at our Tilbury site.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to youth who require assistance with toileting, personal hygiene, and other personal-care needs
• Support children in a respectful and dignified manner, maintaining privacy and encouraging independence whenever possible
• Follow individual care plans, family instructions, and established safety procedures
• Assist with bathroom routines, including prompting, supervision, and hands-on support as required
• Support children with transitions, routines, and participation in daily activities
• Work alongside other program staff to ensure the youth is included in activities and able to participate to the greatest extent possible
• Monitor the child’s well-being and communicate any concerns, changes, or incidents to the appropriate supervisor
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professionalism when handling personal and sensitive information
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children
• Participate in age-appropriate activities and support positive social interactions with peers
• Maintain accurate attendance and program records as required
• Follow BGC Chatham-Kent policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting children or youth with additional support needs is preferred
• Experience providing personal care or toileting support is an asset
• A PSW, EA, DSW, Developmental Services Worker, or other related education/certification is required
• Experience working in a school setting and following school protocols is an asset
• Ability to provide personal care in a patient, respectful, and non-judgmental manner
• Strong understanding of confidentiality, dignity, boundaries, and appropriate professional conduct
• Ability to follow individualized care plans and instructions from families, schools, and supervisors
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable
• Ability to remain calm and patient while responding to individual needs
• Experience working with children with developmental, physical, behavioral, or other support needs is an asset
• Current Standard First Aid/CPR is an asset
