As our business continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced and motivated GPhC-registered Independent Prescribing Pharmacist to join our growing clinical team.

The Role

We are looking for a qualified Independent Prescribing Pharmacist to provide remote prescribing services specialising in male and female hair loss treatments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing online patient consultations, assessing medical suitability, prescribing appropriate treatments and maintaining high standards of patient safety and clinical governance.

This is an excellent opportunity for an independent prescriber seeking a flexible, part-time position within a growing specialist healthcare business.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess online patient medical questionnaires and consultation records.
• Conduct remote patient consultations where clinically appropriate.
• Independently prescribe suitable hair loss medications within professional competence and applicable legal requirements.
• Assess patients for androgenetic alopecia and other hair loss conditions, referring where necessary.
• Review treatment suitability, contraindications, potential interactions and medical histories.
• Prescribe treatments such as finasteride and minoxidil where clinically indicated.
• Consider topical combination preparations and unlicensed or specially manufactured medications where clinically justified and legally permitted.
• Monitor patient progress, treatment effectiveness and potential adverse reactions.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
• Develop and maintain prescribing protocols and clinical guidelines.
• Work collaboratively with pharmacy dispensing partners and the wider clinical team.
• Ensure prescribing practices comply with GPhC standards, relevant UK legislation and professional guidance.

Essential Requirements

• Registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Current independent prescribing annotation on the GPhC register.
• Relevant clinical prescribing experience.
• Strong understanding of medicines safety, contraindications and prescribing governance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote clinical environment.
• Professional indemnity insurance appropriate to the role.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience prescribing treatments for male and female pattern hair loss.
• Knowledge of oral and topical finasteride and minoxidil.
• Familiarity with dermatology, trichology or hair restoration medicine.
• Experience prescribing unlicensed medications or special-order formulations.
• Experience working with online pharmacies, digital healthcare providers or remote prescribing platforms.
• Experience developing prescribing policies and clinical pathways.

Clinical Governance

The successful candidate must exercise independent clinical judgement and retain full professional responsibility for prescribing decisions.

All prescriptions must be based on an appropriate patient assessment, with sufficient information to establish clinical suitability. The prescriber must be able to decline treatment or refer patients where clinically necessary.

The role will operate within applicable UK medicines legislation, GPhC standards and the company’s approved clinical governance framework.
