Indoor Skydiving Instructor

As a Flight Instructor at iFLY Downunder Penrith, you'll turn nervous first-timers into happy adventurers.

You'll love interacting with people and sales come naturally, you might have experience in a teaching, coaching or sports background. You'll need to be 18 or over and physically fit as there's a tough fitness test to pass before a 4 week intensive training course. No indoor skydiving experience is required.

The role encompasses active guest service, instructing, bookings, sales and promotions, and event hosting. You will be responsible for the safety of all flyers at all times, briefing and debriefing guests, and maintaining International Body Flight Association (IBA) currency requirements.

We are looking for casual or permanent part-time instructors with guaranteed availability over the school holidays. Casuals may also be called upon to cover staff leave or peak periods on any day of the week including weekends. This role would suit someone with a flexible schedule.

Pay rate is set hourly and increases as your achieve higher instructing qualifications. Commissions for providing coaching services and upselling are paid on top of base rate.

Important

The Instructor course will run at iFLY Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise on 28th October for 3-4 weeks. All applicants will need to be available for the duration of the instructor course and able to travel to the Gold Coast at their own expense. iFLY will cover the cost of the course ($20,000). Once you've successfully completed the FITP, you'll be a qualified Level 1 Instructor and will be offered an employment contract with iFLY Downunder.

Eligibility

Before attending the course, applicants are required to be able to complete the following fitness test requirements:

• 10 Pull Ups
• 20 Push Up Burpees
• Level 10 on 20m beep test

Successful instructors will also need to obtain the following (iFLY covers the cost):

• Working With Children’s Check
• First Aid Certificate

Key responsibilities

• Approach guests in the building and guide guests around the facility

• Brief and debrief customers for an indoor skydiving experience

• Safely teach guests the basics of indoor skydiving

• Safely operate (Drive) the wind tunnel

• Abide by International Bodyflight Association (IBA) flight rules and regulations and within training limits

• Answer phone calls and email enquiries using helpdesk software

• Ensure waivers are complete and current

• Process bookings (direct and indirect), rescheduling, and check-in using a computer

• Process cash and eftpos sales using a POS system

• Earning commissions by providing coaching services and upselling extra flights, media packages and merchandise.

• Responsible for the safety of all flyers at all times

• Progress flyers through the IBA system

• Maintain IBA currency requirements

• Work a combination of designated hours for administrative tasks (Guest Services), and designated hours for instructing and operation of the wind tunnel.

• Earning commissions by providing coaching services and upselling extra flights, media packages and merchandise.

Who Are We?

We are an indoor skydiving wind tunnel based in Penrith, NSW. Our weekdays are filled with sports skydivers, tourist and school groups. Our weekends are for families, locals and birthday parties. We are passionate about our product and we love to fly!

Hours & Pay

We are hiring 2 Permanent Part Time positions and 2 Casuals positions. Your hours will vary based on operational needs, you may be working weekends, mid-week shifts, evenings, and public holidays. You’ll be paid an hourly rate with additional penalty rates for Sundays and public holidays, in line with the relevant award or agreement. Casual loadings apply to casual positions.
