What they need
1. Line Balancing & Process Optimization
- Bottleneck Analysis: Identifying constraints along the production line that slow down overall output and redistributing work tasks to balance assembly line workflow.
2. Work Measurement & Time Studies
- Standard Time Calculation: Conducting Time and Motion studies (using stopwatches or video analysis) to determine how long specific tasks should take under standard operating conditions.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Establishing step-by-step visual work instructions for operators to ensure consistent quality and repeatable methods across shifts.
3. Plant Layout & Material Flow Design
- Facility Layout Planning: Designing or reconfiguring the factory floor layout to optimize the movement of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.
- Reducing Transport Waste: Minimizing travel distance for forklifts, material handlers, and shop-floor workers to streamline logistics inside the plant.
4. Continuous Improvement & Waste Reduction (Lean Management)
- Implementing Lean Concepts: Applying frameworks such as 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), Kaizen (continuous improvement), and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to remove non-value-added activities.
- Scrap & Scrap Rate Reduction: Collaborating with quality assurance to root-cause production defects and reduce raw material yield loss.
5. Capacity Planning & Equipment Utilization
- Capacity Calculations: Determining total factory output limits based on machine availability, shift schedules, and labor resources.
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE): Monitoring machine availability, performance, and yield output to reduce planned and unplanned downtime.
6. Ergonomics & Safety Engineering
- Operator Safety Integration: Evaluating physical tasks to prevent repetitive strain injuries (RSI), lifting injuries, or fatigue-related safety hazards.
- Material Handling Safety: Designing jigs, fixtures, and automated aids (e.g., gravity feeds, hoist systems) to make material handling safer and easier.
- Workstaton & Cell Design: Designing physical work spaces using ergonomic principles so operators can perform tasks with minimal strain, bending, or excessive movement.
- Takt Time & Cycle Time Alignment: Calculating target production rates to match customer demand and adjusting line speeds accordingly.
Additional Task:
- Developing production schedules
- Monitoring production processes
- Determining equipment requirements
- Scheduling work shifts
- Monitoring material supplies
- Organizing project paperwork
- Troubleshooting production issues
- Preparing performance reports
