Engineering Industrial Placement – AI, Digital & Zero Fuel Burn Testing

An international engineering organisation is seeking a placement student to support projects combining AI, digital engineering and advanced engine component testing.

You will help develop AI and digital tools to improve engineering processes, support component tests that replicate engine operating conditions without burning fuel, and analyse experimental and simulation data. You will also prepare technical reports and collaborate with engineering teams across different disciplines.

Essential criteria – please read before applying

You must meet ALL the criteria below to be considered. If you do not meet every requirement, you will not be invited to interview.

1. Relevant degree: Are you currently studying towards a degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or another related STEM subject?
2. Placement eligibility: Are you eligible to undertake a placement year as part of your degree?
3. Availability: Can you commit to a full-time, year-long placement starting in summer 2027?
4. Location and attendance: Can you work on-site in Daventry three days per week, arranging your own travel or relocation? Relocation support is not provided.
5. Teamwork and communication: Can you demonstrate experience working collaboratively in technical teams and communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing?
6. Analytical skills: Do you have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret technical data?
7. Interest in engines: Do you have an interest in internal combustion engines and how they operate?
8. AI and digital tools: Are you familiar with using AI and digital tools to help complete engineering-related tasks?
9. Relevant technical exposure: Have you gained exposure to engine testing, propulsion systems or sustainable energy technologies through coursework, projects or internships? Experience in at least one of these areas is required.

Preferred background: Mechanical, Aerospace, Motorsport or a closely related Engineering discipline. Other relevant STEM degrees are also accepted. Applicants will typically be around halfway through their degree.
