Role Overview

As an Industrial IT/OT Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in connecting factory-floor systems to modern software and cloud-based data platforms. The role focuses on IT/OT integration, industrial connectivity, and the reliable flow of data between PLCs, sensors, edge devices, and central servers. You will work closely with on-site industrial engineers, control engineers, and data scientists, supporting the deployment, configuration, and operation of industrial systems in real manufacturing environments.

This is a hands-on, system-facing role at the boundary between industrial operations and modern software infrastructure. As an early member of a growing startup, the role demands high ownership and adaptability, while offering rapid skill development, deep industrial exposure, and strong compensation for impact.

Key Responsibilities

·       Research and implement IT/OT hardware integration to stream data from factory equipment (PLCs, sensors, SCADA) into STRELI’s edge devices

·       Research, design, and configure industrial edge devices and gateways for reliable connection to different factory control systems

·       Research and configure data acquisition paths from sensors and PLCs, via gateways, into the edge device, with correct signal/factory tag mapping and timing

·       Research and support on-site deployment and operation of edge devices in active factory environments, adapting configurations to local constraints

·       Work with industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, or similar) to interface with factory equipment

·       Implement factory-side networking, security, and access control for gateways and edge devices

·       Collaborate with control and data engineers to ensure collected industrial data is suitable for monitoring, optimisation, and analytics workflows

·       Support on-site testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of deployed industrial systems

Requirements

·       Bachelor’s degree or higher (Master/PhD preferred) in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline

·       2–4+ years of experience in industrial IT/OT systems, industrial networking, automation support, or applied industrial engineering

·       Hands-on experience with industrial IT/OT systems, factory networks, and plant IT infrastructure

·       Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g. OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, MQTT)

·       Experience working with Linux-based systems, industrial PCs, or edge computing platform

·       Basic proficiency in Python, scripting, or similar tools for system integration, diagnostics, or data handling

·       Understanding of industrial cybersecurity fundamentals and secure system integration practices

·       Industrial IT/OT and industrial cybersecurity certifications (e.g. IEC 62443 or equivalent) are highly desirable; the role focuses on IT/OT integration rather than PLC programming

·        Ability to document and communicate technical work clearly in English and Mandarin
