We are seeking a hands on Industrial Mechanical Technician to support the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of R&D and manufacturing equipment at our Greensboro facility.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with machines, mechanical systems, and engineers to solve practical problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, operate, maintain, and repair R&D and manufacturing equipment.
• Perform mechanical assembly, equipment setup, alignment, adjustment, and modification.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and identify root causes.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Support installation and commissioning of new manufacturing and laboratory equipment.
• Work with engineers to modify and improve existing machines and production systems.
• Fabricate or modify mechanical components, fixtures, brackets, frames, and equipment parts as needed.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Support pneumatic, vacuum, motor driven, and motion control systems.
• Assist with pumps, compressors, bearings, rollers, gears, belts, shafts, actuators, and related mechanical components.
• Support roll to roll and battery electrode manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain equipment maintenance records and spare parts inventory.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors and external service technicians when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory and manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience

Experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable:

• Industrial machinery maintenance
• Manufacturing equipment
• Mechanical assembly and fabrication
• Equipment installation and commissioning
• Roll to roll manufacturing equipment
• Roll press or calendering equipment
• Slitting or cutting equipment
• Web handling systems
• Motors, bearings, rollers, gears, and drive systems
• Pneumatic systems
• Vacuum systems
• Pumps and compressors
• Basic electrical troubleshooting
• PLC controlled manufacturing equipment
• Sensors and industrial instrumentation
• Machine shop tools
• Welding or metal fabrication
• Battery manufacturing equipment
• Dry room or clean room equipment

Battery industry experience is beneficial but not required.

Qualifications

• 3 or more years of hands on experience with industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, or production equipment is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measurement tools, and mechanical equipment safely.
• Ability to independently diagnose and resolve mechanical problems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
• Comfortable working directly with engineers, researchers, equipment vendors, and manufacturing personnel.
• Ability to work in a fast moving R&D and manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

A college degree is not required. Relevant technical training, military technical experience, trade school education, manufacturing experience, or demonstrated hands on capability is highly valued.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a hands on problem solver.

The ideal candidate is someone who sees a machine that is not operating properly and wants to understand why it is not working, how to repair it, and how to make it work better.

This position is not limited to routine maintenance. You will work directly with Soelect engineers and researchers to install new equipment, modify machines, build experimental systems, troubleshoot manufacturing processes, and support the development of new battery manufacturing technologies.

Experience working in a startup, pilot manufacturing, equipment development, or R&D environment is particularly valuable.
