We offer exciting project experience on amazing structural design projects in the UK and around the world, such as the new Everton Stadium, the EU’s new Joint Research Centre in Seville, and London’s vibrant East Bank development including the Stirling Prize nominated London College of Fashion and the newly opened Sadler’s Wells East. Our work includes incredible new build projects and ambitious refurbishment and re-use across the UK and around the world. Whatever your passion we have a place that will suit you.

Structural Artistry is at the heart of our business, allowing us to collaborate with world leading architects. All engineers at every grade contribute to the continuous learning required to deliver some of the most complex building projects. Questioning the norm is part of the Buro Happold everyday engineering process, with opinions and contributions expected from all. This is particularly acute in challenging how structural engineering impacts the environment and the contribution to embodied carbon usage.

Application Process

For the purpose of this application we ask you to fill in a form with some role-specific questions, which means you should ignore the "CV Upload" request when you click apply. This will allow us to get to know you better and standardise the information we get from each candidate.

For the application questions, please note that you are welcome to use another document to help draft your answers and copy them back into the text area once you are ready. For the purpose of this application, we will ask you to describe any work or volunteering experience you have. Please note we are looking for any experience not necessarily industry related.

We believe in ensuring all our processes are equitable and that we help everyone access the opportunities we have to offer. To ensure that we do not disadvantage anyone during the application process we ask that all responses in application forms should be completed without the assistance of generative AI, not everyone has equal access to AI tools and we’d love to hear from you in your own words as we get to know you through the process.

This is a paid 12-month industrial placement aimed at current students taking part in a sandwich course at their university.

The start date is flexible, but most students will start their role in August or September 2025.
