What they need

Industrial Power Distribution Engineering Director (Electrification Focus)

D‑Riven Engineered Solutions is looking for a seasoned leader to guide our Industrial Electrification Engineering team. You will steer power distribution design, infrastructure assessments, and installation/relocation programs that align with National Electrical Code (NEC) and customer standards—delivering safe, efficient, and reliable outcomes on complex industrial sites.

Starting Annual Pay: $111,000 - $120,000

A week in this role

  • Serve as the technical authority for the Industrial Electrification team, setting design direction and quality expectations.
  • Lead and mentor Senior Electrical Engineers and Electrical Superintendents as they plan and perform site surveys and translate findings into robust power distribution designs and construction-ready installation plans.
  • Evaluate existing industrial power systems for capacity and loading; produce and approve one-line diagrams.
  • Own and/or approve designs for medium/low-voltage power distribution, optimizing for material utilization, lead times, integration downtime, and ease of install.
  • Research and enforce all applicable electrical and building codes and accepted best practices.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and customer stakeholders to support electrical project costing, quoting, and planning.
  • Partner with operations and program management to translate scope into timelines, resource plans, and mobilization strategies before kickoff.
  • Develop detailed material takeoffs and hand off to purchasing; source technical components and validate alternates for compatibility under project constraints.
  • Direct internal electricians and subcontractors to execute the work plan safely and efficiently; verify lockout/tagout (LOTO) before work begins.
  • Support field teams with remote and on-site troubleshooting to resolve system issues swiftly.
  • Review and sign off on installations including Unistrut frames/hangers, cable tray, conduit, panels, disconnects, junction boxes, and motors.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained for work areas, machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with low-voltage/controls specialists to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Perform arc flash studies and issue appropriate labels at project closeout.
  • Take on additional routine site duties as requested by site management.

What you bring

  • Proven electrical engineering experience in industrial environments.
  • Mastery in reading, interpreting, and developing electrical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Fluency with Autodesk Electrical Suite for engineering design.
  • Hands-on electrical aptitude and strong field sensibilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, project management, and supervisory capabilities.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and adherence to NEC, building codes, and industry best practices.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, variable schedules, and additional hours when required.

Experience & education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field).
  • 15+ years combined experience in electrical engineering, industrial electrical installation/maintenance, or equivalent.
  • Experience operating aerial lifts and other powered equipment.

Travel & logistics

  • Willingness to travel frequently (30%–40%) across the U.S.
  • Ownership of a reliable vehicle suitable for interstate travel.
