Industrial Transformation Process Engineer - Pharma

We are looking for an experienced Senior Industrial Transformation Consultant to support a major healthcare organization in Belgium in the optimization and transformation of its pharmaceutical production activities.

The mission focuses on improving operational performance, redesigning workflows, strengthening quality standards, and defining future production models in a GMP-regulated environment. The ideal candidate combines strong industrial engineering expertise, Lean/Continuous Improvement skills, and pharmaceutical experience.

Type of assignment: Freelance or Intern
Initial duration: 3 months (with potential extension)
Location: Belgium (multi-site)

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze current production processes, workflows, and operational flows across pharmaceutical production sites.

• Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities.

• Map and optimize end-to-end processes, including material, human, and information flows.

• Propose and implement Lean improvements (5S, visual management, waste reduction, continuous improvement initiatives).

• Support the redesign and optimization of production areas, workstations, and operational organization.

• Perform risk assessments related to quality, traceability, contamination, and process robustness.

• Define performance indicators (KPIs) and improvement roadmaps.

• Contribute to the design of future-state production models and industrial blueprints.

• Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and management teams.

• Prepare structured recommendations and reports for stakeholders.

• Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or equivalent.

• 5–10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, industrial transformation, or operational excellence.

• Strong experience in:

  • GMP-regulated environments;

  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement;

  • Process optimization and industrial performance improvement;

  • Production flows and operational organization.

• Experience with tools such as:

  • Lean Six Sigma;

  • 5S;

  • Value Stream Mapping (VSM);

  • FMEA / risk analysis.

• Ability to work independently and manage complex transformation projects.

• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to challenge constructively and work with multidisciplinary teams.

• Fluent in French and Dutch; English is an asset.

• Willingness to travel between production sites in Belgium.
