What they need
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Infant Breaker/Closer to join our vibrant childcare team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transition of infants from daytime care to their families in the evening. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a warm, secure environment for our youngest learners. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families while working in a supportive, growth-oriented setting. The role is paid and requires a commitment to providing exceptional care during the closing hours of our daycare center.
Duties
- Safely and efficiently supervise infants during the transition period at the end of the day, ensuring they are comfortable and secure.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's day, including updates on activities, milestones, and any concerns.
- Assist with diapering, feeding, and comforting infants as needed, following all health and safety protocols including pediatric first aid and CPR.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment by sanitizing toys, changing tables, and common areas in accordance with childcare standards.
- Follow mandated reporting laws by recognizing signs of neglect or abuse and reporting any concerns to appropriate authorities promptly.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth handoffs and continuity of care for each infant.
- Document daily activities, incidents, and observations accurately to support ongoing developmental assessments.
Experience (Will Train)
Candidates should possess prior experience working with infants or young children in daycare centers, preschools, or similar settings. Experience with classroom management, behavior management techniques, and early childhood development instruction is highly valued. Knowledge of childhood development stages, infant care best practices, and classroom safety procedures is essential. Certification in first aid and CPR (including pediatric first aid) is required or strongly preferred. Ideal applicants will have experience working with children with disabilities or special needs, demonstrating patience and adaptability. Previous roles such as nannying or babysitting that involved caring for infants are also relevant. Strong communication skills for parent interaction, familiarity with mandated reporting laws, and a passion for early childhood education will help you succeed in this rewarding position.
