What they need
Position Summary
The Infant Room Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants in our care. This position requires a caring and dependable individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced classroom, responding quickly to children's needs, and working closely with other teachers as a team.
Our infant classroom relies heavily on teamwork, communication, cleanliness, active supervision, and efficient routines. Teachers are expected to work together, tag-team responsibilities, and step in to support one another throughout the day.
The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, organized, energetic, and genuinely enjoys caring for infants and supporting their early development.
Essential Responsibilities
Infant Care & Supervision
- Provide attentive, responsive, and nurturing care to each infant.
- Maintain active supervision of all children at all times.
- Respond promptly to infants' needs, including feeding, diapering, soothing, sleep, and comfort.
- Follow each child's individual feeding, sleeping, diapering, and care routines.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in an infant's behavior, mood, health, or development.
- Provide age-appropriate opportunities for tummy time, movement, exploration, sensory experiences, and social interaction.
- Create a warm and engaging environment where infants feel safe, secure, and supported.
Safety & Health
- Follow all Luna Acres, Colorado licensing, health, and safety requirements.
- Maintain safe sleep practices at all times.
- Follow individual health plans, allergy plans, medication procedures, and parent instructions as applicable.
- Properly sanitize and maintain toys, equipment, surfaces, and classroom materials.
- Complete required health checks and follow illness policies.
- Immediately communicate concerns regarding a child's health, safety, or well-being to the Director.
Cleanliness & Classroom Organization
Cleanliness is a major responsibility of this position.
- Keep the infant classroom clean, organized, and sanitary throughout the entire day—not only at closing.
- Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces, toys, equipment, changing areas, and other classroom materials as required.
- Keep diapering areas stocked, clean, and ready for use.
- Clean up spills, messes, and accidents promptly.
- Maintain an organized classroom so teachers can quickly locate supplies and respond to children's needs.
- Complete assigned cleaning and closing responsibilities consistently.
- Work with the classroom team to ensure cleaning responsibilities are shared fairly.
Teamwork & Tag-Teaming
At Luna Acres, teamwork is essential.
Teachers are expected to:
- Communicate openly and respectfully with their classroom team.
- Tag-team responsibilities rather than waiting for another teacher to ask for help.
- Move efficiently between diapering, feeding, cleaning, supervision, and classroom responsibilities.
- Step in when another teacher is assisting an infant.
- Help maintain classroom ratios and supervision while completing necessary tasks.
- Communicate changes in routines, concerns, supplies, and children's needs with the classroom team.
- Support other classrooms when needed and when ratios allow.
- Understand that everyone in the classroom is responsible for the overall care and cleanliness of the room.
Brightwheel Responsibilities
Accurate and timely Brightwheel documentation is an important part of this position.
Teachers are expected to:
- Record diaper changes promptly and accurately.
- Document meals and bottles accurately and in a timely manner.
- Record naps/sleep according to classroom procedures.
- Complete required health checks and other documentation.
- Upload appropriate classroom photos and updates throughout the day.
- Communicate important information to families through Brightwheel when directed.
- Review Brightwheel information to stay aware of each child's daily needs and routines.
- Ensure documentation is completed throughout the day rather than being left until the end of the shift.
Family Communication
- Build positive, respectful relationships with families.
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians.
- Share appropriate information about their child's day.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Direct concerns, complaints, or sensitive issues to the Director when appropriate.
- Represent Luna Acres in a professional and welcoming manner.
Classroom Expectations
The Infant Room Teacher is expected to:
- Arrive on time and ready to work.
- Maintain reliable attendance.
- Stay engaged and actively supervising children.
- Limit personal phone use while working.
- Remain attentive to children's needs rather than remaining stationary or waiting to be directed.
- Take initiative and recognize what needs to be done.
- Keep the classroom moving efficiently.
- Ask for help when needed and offer help when others need it.
- Maintain a positive attitude, even during busy or challenging periods.
- Follow all Luna Acres policies and procedures.
- Accept coaching and feedback professionally.
- Maintain professional boundaries with children, families, and coworkers.

Caring. Dependable. Clean. Team-oriented. Fast-moving. Attentive. Patient. Responsible.

If something needs to be cleaned, clean it.
If a teammate needs help, jump in.
If an infant needs attention, respond.
