About the role

We are seeking an Information Security Associate (Staff Level) to join Philtrust Bank's security team in Manila City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in protecting our organisation's information assets and ensuring compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements. As an Information Security Associate at staff level, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and maintaining security measures across our banking infrastructure. Your work will be instrumental in safeguarding sensitive financial data, detecting security threats and responding to incidents that could impact our operations and reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse security logs, network traffic and system activities to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities
• Implement and maintain security controls, policies and procedures in accordance with banking regulations and industry standards
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and security audits on banking systems and applications
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions
• Maintain and update security documentation, including risk registers and audit trails
• Support the deployment and configuration of security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and access controls
• Assist with security awareness and training initiatives for staff members
• Collaborate with IT and operational teams to ensure security requirements are integrated into system designs and changes
• Participate in security compliance audits and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies
• Monitor third-party security assessments and vendor compliance with security standards

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience

• Strong knowledge of security principles, frameworks and best practices including ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework or equivalent

• Familiarity with banking or financial services security requirements and compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, BSP regulations)

• Proficiency in security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, antivirus software and SIEM platforms

• Solid understanding of network architecture, systems administration and database security concepts

• Experience with log analysis, threat monitoring and incident response procedures

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

• Relevant security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) are highly desirable

• Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and penetration testing is preferred
