What they need

The City of Jurupa Valley seeks a resourceful Information Technology Analyst to strengthen essential technology services and help shape how the City works. This opportunity combines advanced systems support with meaningful improvements in automation, cybersecurity, cloud services, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence. Join a collaborative team that values initiative, practical ideas, and dependable service to City staff and the community.

The Information Technology Analyst is an advanced professional role that works under general supervision and exercises independent judgment across a broad range of technology assignments. The Analyst evaluates, implements, maintains, and improves information systems while providing responsive technical assistance to City staff.

The role combines analytical work with direct technical support. Assignments range from cloud administration and systems integration to troubleshooting equipment, resolving connectivity issues, and supporting public meeting technology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Administer and support enterprise applications, servers, networks, and cloud platforms, including Microsoft 365, Azure, and the City’s Tyler enterprise finance system.
  • Use scripting, programming, integrations, and automated workflows to improve efficiency, reliability, and reporting.
  • Support cybersecurity, identity and access management, system monitoring, and disaster recovery and business continuity efforts.
  • Evaluate AI and other emerging technologies for operational value, with attention to accuracy, privacy, security, and responsible use.
  • Coordinate technology projects, upgrades, migrations, vendor services, documentation, and staff training.
  • Provide hands-on hardware, software, telecommunications, and audiovisual support, including technology for City Council meetings.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, analytical IT professional who takes ownership of assignments and completes projects with minimal direction. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, sound judgment, and respect for confidentiality are essential. The successful candidate builds productive relationships, explains technical issues clearly, and approaches both complex projects and routine support with the same commitment to service.

The City seeks a professional who brings ideas forward, welcomes feedback, and remains adaptable. An understanding of municipal processes, budget constraints, and the importance of dependable public service will support success in this role.

Particularly valuable experience includes:

  • Microsoft 365, Azure, cloud administration, and enterprise application support.
  • Scripting, programming, workflow automation, and systems integration.
  • Practical use or evaluation of AI tools to improve work processes.
  • Cybersecurity, identity and access management, and risk reduction.
  • Project coordination, vendor management, and support for users with varying technical abilities.
  • Public sector technology

Minimum Qualifications

The classification identifies a typical qualifying background as at least three years of professional experience providing analytical support to IT enterprise systems, along with education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or a closely related field. Other combinations of experience and training that provide the required knowledge and abilities may qualify.

A California driver’s license and proof of insurance are required. Current industry certifications in systems, networking, cybersecurity, cloud administration, or related technologies are desirable, including Microsoft, CompTIA Network+ or Security+, Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, or equivalent credentials. Project management certification is also preferred.
