What they need

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Information Technology (IT) Manager provides hands-on leadership for the Bank’s technology operations, infrastructure, applications, cloud services, automation, and information security support functions. This role manages IT staff and vendors while remaining actively engaged in technical execution, incident response, project delivery, process improvement, and operational readiness.

The IT Manager ensures secure, reliable, and well-documented operation of on-premises, hosted, SaaS, and cloud environments, including core banking applications, Microsoft 365, AWS, Microsoft Azure, virtualization platforms, Windows and Linux servers, networks, storage, backup, monitoring, and endpoint technologies. The position partners with business units, IT leadership, and strategic vendors to resolve issues, reduce risk, improve service availability, and support scalable technology operations.

This position requires strong technical ownership, sound judgment, clear communication, and the ability to lead teams through complex operational issues, audits, technology changes, security events, and time-sensitive business needs.

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Hands-On Expertise: The role is expected to be 70-80% hands-on senior engineering work and 20-30% management (team, vendors, etc.). The candidate must be comfortable logging into consoles and actively troubleshooting issues.
  • Hybrid Experience: Candidates should have a background starting with traditional on-premise infrastructure (Windows servers, networks, firewalls, helpdesk support) and have transitioned to cloud technologies over the last 4-5 years.
  • Cloud Skills: Strong experience with AWS is critical. While experience operationalizing AWS from scratch is preferred, deep familiarity is acceptable. The company uses a standard set of about 25 AWS services.
  • Team Management: The manager will oversee a team of 8-10 individuals responsible for helpdesk, network/infrastructure, and cloud initiation.
  • Financial Experience: While financial or banking industry experience is a plus, it is not a mandatory requirement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead, coach, prioritize, and develop IT staff supporting infrastructure, applications, service desk, automation, information security, and operational support.

Provide hands-on administration, troubleshooting, and support for servers, networks, endpoints, virtualization platforms, firewalls, VPN, identity systems, SaaS platforms, and banking applications.

Support AWS, and related cloud services with attention to architecture, secure configuration, access management, monitoring, cost awareness, availability, scalability, backup, and resilience.

Develop and maintain automation that improves repeatability, reduces manual effort, strengthens controls, and increases operational efficiency through scripting, workflow automation, API integrations, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Monitor systems, services, applications, security tools, backups, and cloud dashboards to ensure issues are assigned, escalated, documented, and resolved in accordance with incident management and disaster recovery expectations.

Manage relationships with key technology vendors and service providers, including Jack Henry and Associates, to support reliable service delivery, timely escalation, and effective issue resolution.

Lead IT projects, upgrades, migrations, integrations, cloud initiatives, automation enhancements, and other technology changes from planning through deployment and post-implementation support.

Provide clear operational updates to IT leadership and Bank management during incidents, vendor escalations, outages, security events, and major project activities.

Support audits, examinations, risk assessments, and compliance reviews by maintaining documentation, producing evidence, responding to inquiries, and tracking remediation to completion.

Review security alerts, vulnerability findings, endpoint protection dashboards, and monitoring tools; support investigation, escalation, remediation, and preventive action.

Maintain accurate documentation, including network diagrams, cloud configurations, inventories, runbooks, escalation procedures, automation workflows, vendor contacts, and operational checklists.

Coordinate monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, patching, lifecycle management, technology refresh, vendor coordination, and cost management across on-premise, hosted, SaaS, and cloud environments.

Provide technical leadership during complex incidents and escalations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventive controls, and lessons learned.

Facilitate staff meetings, project checkpoints, and operational reviews to promote accountability, knowledge sharing, and alignment with departmental priorities.

Support disaster recovery, business continuity, backup validation, incident response, and operational resilience for critical systems and services.

Successfully complete and support technical, security, and regulatory training or examinations required by the Company.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong hands-on administration, troubleshooting, and analytical skills across infrastructure, applications, endpoints, networks, cloud platforms, and security tools.

Experience leading IT teams while remaining technically engaged in support, escalations, implementations, incident support, and process improvement.

Strong hands-on knowledge and experience on AWS, including EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, Lambda, networking, load balancers, VPNs, DNS, monitoring, backup, cost management, and multi-account cloud concepts.

Experience operationalizing an enterprise AWS environment from scratch is an absolute plus

Experience with automation and operations tools such as PowerShell, Python, API integrations, job scheduling, configuration management, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, CI/CD pipelines, CloudWatch, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID/Azure AD, identity and access management, endpoint management, conditional access, and related administrative controls.

Working knowledge of banking applications, core systems, SaaS platforms, network equipment, firewalls, VPN, WAN technologies, virtualization software, Windows Server, Linux, desktop operating systems, backup platforms, and monitoring tools.

Experience administering, securing, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting Linux-based systems, including command-line administration, services, permissions, logs, package management, and shell scripting.

Knowledge of banking compliance, audit support, information security, incident response, vulnerability management, technology risk management, cloud governance, IAM, MFA, encryption, Security Hub, GuardDuty, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and operational resilience practices.

Ability to maintain accurate documentation, procedures, diagrams, runbooks, evidence packages, project plans, and executive-level status updates.

Excellent communication, vendor management, project management, prioritization, and customer service skills across all organizational levels.

Ability to manage competing priorities, resolve complex issues independently, and provide calm leadership during incidents and time-sensitive operational events.

5+ years of progressive experience in IT operations, infrastructure, engineering, systems administration, application support, cloud operations, security controls, or related technical disciplines.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent experience.

Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, ITIL, Security+, CISSP, CISM, Network+, PMP, or equivalent credentials are preferred.

Flexibility to provide support during off hours, weekends, emergencies, and other management or escalation needs.
