What they need
About the Company
Our client is a highly regarded, privately owned infrastructure advisory firm with a strong track record of delivering value across complex, large-scale projects. While well-established internationally, their New Zealand presence is in a growth phase, offering a rare opportunity to be part of something entrepreneurial, yet backed by proven capability, systems, and reputation.
They are known for being technically sharp, commercially astute, and genuinely down-to-earth. Their people are trusted advisors to clients across the full infrastructure lifecycle, from early-stage strategy and business case development through to delivery and optimisation.
With a collaborative and low-ego culture, they pride themselves on building long-term relationships and delivering outcomes that make a real difference to communities and the built environment. As the New Zealand business continues to grow, there's a genuine ambition to build something bigger than great technical output alone - a team that collaborates as strongly internally as it engages externally, with high emotional intelligence and a real investment in each other's success.
The Opportunity
This is not a typical advisory role.
You'll play a key role in supporting the growth of a high-performing Auckland-based team, working across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. There is flexibility at this level, with opportunities for both Advisor and Senior Advisor candidates, depending on experience.
You'll be involved in meaningful, front-end and delivery-focused advisory work, partnering closely with clients, contributing to strategic outcomes, and helping shape project success from day one. Just as importantly, you'll be part of a team that values how people work together internally as much as how they engage the market - collaboration, trust, and emotional intelligence are central to how this business wants to grow in New Zealand.
Alongside project work, you'll also have the opportunity to contribute to client engagement, market presence, and the ongoing growth of the business in New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of business cases, strategic advice, and front-end infrastructure planning
- Support the delivery of complex projects, ensuring strong commercial, risk, and governance outcomes
- Provide technical and commercial advisory across multiple stages of the project lifecycle
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project partners
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the business, contributing to a supportive, connected team culture as much as to client outcomes
- Assist with business development activities, including proposals and market engagement
- Collaborate with a high-performing team to deliver quality outcomes and drive continuous improvement
- Support a culture of accountability, trust, and high performance
About You You'll come from a client-side, consultancy, or infrastructure environment, with a solid understanding of how major projects are shaped and delivered.
Candidates with a background in advisory services, such as a Big Four firms or similar advisory-led business, are particularly well suited to this role, given the emphasis on business cases, advisory frameworks, and governance advice, though we're open to strong candidates from a range of backgrounds.
You are someone who enjoys working across both the strategic and delivery sides of projects and can bring a balance of technical insight and commercial thinking. Just as important is how you work with others - you bring strong emotional intelligence, genuinely enjoy collaborating, and care as much about building good relationships internally as you do about engaging clients and the market.
Key experience may include:
- 6-8+ years' experience (Advisor) or 8-12+ years (Senior Advisor) in infrastructure, advisory, or project environments
- Experience with business cases, feasibility, or front-end advisory work
- Strong understanding of project delivery, governance, and risk management
- Proven ability to engage with clients and stakeholders confidently and professionally
- Exposure to transport, water, energy, or social infrastructure projects (desirable)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information
- High EQ and a natural collaborator, equally comfortable building relationships internally and externally
- A proactive, adaptable mindset with a willingness to get involved and add value
Why Consider This Role?
- Be part of a growing and respected advisory business in New Zealand
- Work on complex, high-impact infrastructure projects
- Gain exposure to both strategic and delivery phases
- Join a business that values collaboration and connection internally as much as strong client delivery
- Additional annual leave and excellent benefits
- Financial support for further education and professional development
- Join a team that is highly capable, supportive, and genuinely down to earth
