Job Title: Infrastructure Architect, Tooling Operations

Compensation: Salary or Hourly: Hourly, target $80–$90/hour

Client Overview:

Vernovis is partnering with a global organization seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to lead the architecture supporting its secure software development and build environment.

What You'll Do:

• Own the target architecture for infrastructure supporting a global secure software factory, including CI/CD runners, Kubernetes, databases, monitoring, secrets management, and code-signing services
• Design and stand up new cloud-native Kubernetes infrastructure and migrate production workloads onto new clusters or distributions
• Own infrastructure capacity forecasting, hardware lifecycle planning, and long-term infrastructure strategy
• Design and maintain shared CI/CD pipelines, templates, and reference pipelines used by engineering teams
• Serve as the escalation point for infrastructure-related CI/CD and platform issues
• Own production build tooling, including compilers, toolchains, mirrors, caches, and runtime images
• Establish standards for infrastructure-as-code, change management, backup and recovery, security, and patching
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to Infrastructure Engineers across global onshore and offshore teams

What Experience You'll Have:

• 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or site reliability engineering, including substantial hands-on production experience
• 3+ years setting technical direction as an Infrastructure Architect, Principal Engineer, Platform Lead, or similar role
• Deep experience with Kubernetes, including designing and creating new clusters or distributions, containers, and Linux systems administration
• Strong CI/CD infrastructure experience, ideally including GitLab runners at scale across multiple operating systems
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or equivalent

What Experience is Nice to Have:

• Experience with GitLab runner fleets, HashiCorp Vault, PostgreSQL, Grafana/Prometheus, VMware vSphere/Tanzu, or hybrid cloud environments
• Knowledge of HSMs, code-signing infrastructure, Sigstore, SBOM, provenance, and software supply-chain security
• CKA, CKS, or equivalent cloud/security certifications
