The Opportunity

GEDON has partnered with a leading independent construction and infrastructure consultancy with a significant presence across Queensland and the wider Australian market. The business provides cost management, quantity surveying and advisory services to major government, institutional and private-sector clients.

Their Brisbane Infrastructure team continues to expand, creating an opportunity for an experienced Associate, Associate Director or senior-level Cost Professional to take on a key position within the business. The successful candidate will work across major programmes spanning transport, roads, aviation, water, renewables and energy , while developing into an increasingly influential role within the team.

Importantly, this isn't simply another project delivery position. The business is looking for someone who can become a long-term senior figure within its Infrastructure capability , working closely with established leadership, developing client relationships and gradually taking greater responsibility for people, projects and the direction of the team.

About the Role

This is a senior appointment within the Brisbane Infrastructure team, with the level and scope shaped around the experience of the successful candidate.

You will provide senior cost management and commercial advice across major infrastructure projects and programmes, working with clients from early feasibility and business case stages through procurement, delivery and completion.

The business is open to candidates coming from either a traditional Quantity Surveying / Cost Management background or those who have developed their career predominantly within Cost Estimating .

Responsibilities will include:

• Leading cost management and estimating services across major infrastructure projects and programmes.
• Preparation and review of estimates, cost plans, budgets and commercial advice.
• Providing strategic cost advice throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supporting procurement, tendering and commercial evaluation processes.
• Reviewing project risk, escalation, contingency and key cost drivers.
• Managing and developing relationships with major government and infrastructure clients.
• Providing technical leadership and guidance to junior and intermediate members of the team.
• Reviewing deliverables and ensuring consistently high standards of cost and commercial advice.
• Working closely with senior leadership on the continued development of the Infrastructure business.
• Gradually assuming greater responsibility for key clients, projects and the broader team.

Who Will This Suit?

This opportunity is particularly well suited to an experienced infrastructure cost professional who has reached Associate or senior cost management level and is looking for a position offering more than simply the next title.

You may already be operating at Associate or Associate Director level within a consultancy, or you could be a highly experienced Senior Cost Manager / Senior Estimator who is ready to make the transition into a more senior leadership position.

You will ideally have:

• Significant experience within infrastructure cost management, quantity surveying or estimating .
• Exposure to major transport, road, aviation, water, energy, renewables or comparable civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong pre-contract cost planning and/or estimating capability.
• A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
• The ability to confidently engage with senior client stakeholders.
• Strong commercial judgement and technical cost knowledge.
• Experience mentoring, managing or providing technical guidance to other cost professionals.
• The ambition to build a long-term career and become an increasingly important part of a senior leadership team.
