Infrastructure Engineer - Advanced

Position Overview

We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer to support our R&D users and IT infrastructure environment in Taiwan. This position is primarily based in Taipei , with backup support for our Hsinchu location as required.

In this role, you will provide hands-on support across end-user computing, Windows and Linux systems, virtualization, servers, storage, and related infrastructure. You will also contribute to infrastructure projects, system administration, operational automation, technology evaluation, and continuous improvement.

You will work closely with local R&D users, global IT teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and external service providers to maintain a reliable, secure, and efficient technology environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day IT support for R&D users, including VDI, Windows endpoints, office applications, printing, file services, conferencing solutions, and related hardware and software; support employee onboarding and onsite technology needs.
• Install, configure, administer, monitor, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and deploy Windows/Linux systems, virtualization platforms, servers, storage, and associated infrastructure.
• Support enterprise infrastructure technologies including Dell and HPE x86 servers, NetApp storage, OpenStack, VDI, networking, VPN, endpoint security, system monitoring, backup and recovery, security patching, and configuration management.
• Use Shell, Batch, PowerShell, and other appropriate tools to automate operational activities, improve system administration efficiency, and standardize repeatable processes.
• Support IT infrastructure projects from requirements analysis and solution planning through implementation, testing, deployment, and acceptance; evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that improve reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with R&D teams, global IT organizations, business stakeholders, technology partners, and service providers; maintain technical documentation and support IT asset, security, and compliance activities in accordance with applicable company policies and local requirements.

Required Knowledge / Skills, Education, and Experience:

• Relevant education or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, systems administration, or R&D technology support, with the ability to independently troubleshoot complex system, hardware, and infrastructure issues.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux environments, such as Windows 11, Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, SUSE, or similar enterprise operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with server, storage, and virtualization technologies, preferably including Dell/HPE x86 servers, NetApp storage, OpenStack, VDI, or comparable platforms.
• Good understanding of enterprise networking, VPN, endpoint security, system monitoring, backup and recovery, security patching, and configuration management.
• Scripting and automation experience using technologies such as Shell, Batch, or PowerShell; familiarity with IT service management practices such as Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and customer-service skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively in English and Chinese in a global working environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting R&D, engineering, or other technically demanding end-user environments.
• Experience working in a multinational organization or collaborating with geographically distributed/global IT teams.
• Experience with data center operations, server or storage deployment, infrastructure expansion, refresh, or migration activities.
• Experience supporting office IT infrastructure implementation, relocation, or similar infrastructure projects.
• Experience with IT automation, scripting, and operational process improvement.
• End-to-end infrastructure project experience, including requirements analysis, solution planning, implementation, testing, and handover.
• Experience supporting information security, IT compliance, or infrastructure governance activities.

Additional Information

• This position is primarily based in Taipei.
• The role provides backup IT support for the Hsinchu location based on business and operational needs.
• Occasional onsite support at company offices, data center facilities, or other business locations may be required depending on operational needs.
