What they need
Infrastructure Engineer
Are you an experienced Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, improving systems and keeping critical infrastructure running reliably?
Pulse Energy is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT team. This is a hands-on role covering systems, networks, cloud infrastructure, security, end-user technology and business-critical IT services. You’ll also have the opportunity to step up and provide additional support to the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Manager when required.
About the role
You’ll help manage and maintain Pulse Energy’s technology environment across servers, networks, security, workstations and cloud services.
The role has a strong operational focus, but we’re also looking for someone who can identify opportunities to improve how our systems perform, reduce risk and make our technology environment more efficient.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and maintaining physical and virtual servers and end-user computing environments
- Troubleshooting complex server, network, cloud and infrastructure issues
- Managing Windows server, Linux server and workstation patching and updates
- Supporting network infrastructure including firewalls, routing and switching
- Administering AWS, VMware, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Active Directory, Windows Server and Linux Server environments
- Managing storage, backups and infrastructure monitoring
- Building, installing and maintaining PCs, laptops and other desktop infrastructure
- Supporting security SEIM, MDR, vulnerability management and remediation
- Monitoring system performance and supporting capacity planning
- Maintaining technical documentation, standards and procedures
- Supporting business continuity and system recovery planning
- Working with third-party technology vendors and consultants
- Sharing your technical knowledge and helping develop technical support capability across the team.
- This role requires some weekend and after-hours work to support IT updates and provide IT support when required.
About you
You’ll bring around 3 to 4 years of relevant infrastructure experience and a Computer Science degree or equivalent qualification.
Technically, you’ll be comfortable working across areas such as:
- Network engineering, including firewall, routing and switching
- Systems engineering and administration
- AWS
- VMware
- Microsoft 365
- Entra ID
- Intune
- Active Directory
- Windows Server
- Linux Server
- Storage administration
- Infrastructure backup and recovery
- SEIM, MDR and Vulnerability management and remediation
- Business process automation.
Just as importantly, you’ll be a logical and analytical thinker who enjoys getting to the root cause of problems. You’ll be able to stay focused when dealing with critical issues, communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical people, anticipate risk and contribute ideas for improving the way we work.
What we’re looking for
You’ll suit this role if you:
- Enjoy being hands-on and taking ownership
- Have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Pay attention to the detail without losing sight of the wider business impact
- Can work effectively when systems or services are under pressure
- Communicate technical information in a practical, easy-to-understand way
- Work collaboratively and build strong relationships
- Look for opportunities to improve systems rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
