Infrastructure Integration Engineer

About the role

Our client, a leading global investment bank, is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Integration Engineer to join its platform engineering team within Core Infrastructure. The team designs, integrates and maintains the firm's large-scale global physical and virtual server estate. It evaluates, certifies and supports a broad range of technologies, including hardware platforms, hypervisors, Linux operating systems, configuration tooling, automation platforms, load balancing and high availability solutions.

The team is a key part of the firm's DevOps transformation, delivering real-time APIs and automation that enable infrastructure-as-code and turn desired state into reliable production outcomes.

The role focuses on integrating, testing, securing and improving multiple infrastructure codebases, with particular emphasis on vulnerability remediation, code hardening, automated validation and safe production rollout. This is not a "follow the requirement and apply a fix" position. We are looking for a self-starter who can understand complex distributed systems, assess the wider impact of security changes and deliver stable, maintainable, future-proof code.

What you will do

• Remediate security vulnerabilities across multiple infrastructure and automation codebases
• Design, implement and validate secure, stable and maintainable code changes
• Integrate vendor, open-source and internally developed solutions into the firm's infrastructure platform
• Develop and maintain automation using Python and related tooling
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated test coverage and release validation
• Create test plans and validation procedures for security-related code and configuration changes
• Test complex changes in lab and pre-production environments before production rollout
• Work with engineering, operations, security and application teams to assess impact and drive remediation to completion
• Take part in code reviews, design discussions, documentation and technical planning
• Contribute to platform reliability, security posture and engineering practices

What you bring

• Strong Linux engineering skills, including configuration, troubleshooting, system-level diagnostics and operational support
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and the challenges of changing, testing and operating them safely
• Strong Python development skills, with the ability to write robust, production-quality code
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks and release automation
• Experience with both automated and manual testing approaches
• Ability to create practical test plans, validation procedures and rollout plans for complex changes
• Experience in large-scale production environments and a clear understanding of operational risk
• Good knowledge of security principles, vulnerability remediation, secure coding and system hardening
• Strong troubleshooting skills across operating systems, infrastructure services, automation, networking and application integration points
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and drive complex problems to resolution
• Strong communication skills, including explaining technical risks, options and recommendations clearly

Nice to have

• Perl in addition to Python
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Ansible or SaltStack
• VMware ESXi, virtualization platforms or private cloud infrastructure
• Vulnerability management, security scanning tools, remediation workflows and audit/compliance requirements
