What they need

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Our client is an international contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure across Europe. Known for technical depth, disciplined project controls and a consistent delivery record, they are regularly entrusted by public authorities and major private clients with schemes where scale, complexity and programme certainty are critical.

Romania represents one of the most active infrastructure markets in Europe, supported by significant public and EU-backed investment across transport, utilities and associated networks. Our client has established a solid operational base in Bucharest and is well positioned to secure and deliver a growing share of this work.

With a healthy order book and further opportunities in the pipeline, the business is strengthening its local project leadership. This is a genuine growth appointment, offering the chance to join at an important stage and play a central role in shaping delivery across the region.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PROJECTS

You will join a capable, multidisciplinary project team delivering major infrastructure schemes, which may span transport corridors, structures, utilities and associated civil works. Projects are typically large, technically involved and closely scrutinised, requiring tight coordination across engineering, commercial, planning and construction functions.

The business promotes a professional and collaborative culture, with a firm focus on safety, quality and robust project governance. Project Managers are given real autonomy over their schemes, supported by experienced senior leadership and the systems and resources of a wider international group.

You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, from tender handover and design coordination through to construction, commissioning and completion. Working closely with clients, engineers, designers and an extensive supply chain, you will gain broad experience and strong visibility within the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of infrastructure projects, from mobilisation through to completion and handover
  • Manage project programmes, budgets and resources to deliver against time, cost and quality objectives
  • Coordinate engineering, commercial, planning and site teams to ensure integrated and efficient delivery
  • Oversee contract administration under FIDIC conditions, including change, claims and risk management alongside the commercial team
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier packages, including procurement, performance and interfaces
  • Act as the key point of contact for clients, the Engineer, designers and authorities, building strong working relationships
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements across all works
  • Produce clear and accurate project reporting for senior management and clients
  • Support the development of engineers and junior members of the project team

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering infrastructure or major civil engineering projects for a main contractor
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Strong working knowledge of FIDIC forms of contract and contract administration
  • Track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and managing significant subcontractor packages
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to control cost, programme and risk
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; Romanian language skills are highly beneficial
  • Experience of publicly funded or EU-backed infrastructure projects is beneficial but not essential

WHAT YOU’LL GET IN RETURN

This role offers a salary of up to €120,000, supported by a competitive benefits package. Beyond the package, it provides a long-term career platform within a stable, growing international business, with involvement in some of the most significant infrastructure investment in the region and a clearly defined route into senior project leadership. You will benefit from experienced leadership, strong systems and a pipeline that offers genuine longevity.
