Infrastructure Security Engineer

An opportunity has opened for an experienced Infrastructure Security Engineer to join a well-established Perth-based organisation on an initial contract. You’ll sit at the intersection of infrastructure operations and security, keeping core platforms patched, protected and recoverable while lifting the organisation’s overall security posture.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys owning the platforms they work on, from virtualisation and backup through to identity and endpoint security, and who takes pride in clean, well-documented, resilient environments.

WHAT’S ON OFFER

• $1,100 per day inclusive of superannuation
• Initial 3-month rolling contract
• Full-time, 5 days per week on site in Perth
• Broad technical scope across infrastructure, backup, identity and endpoint security
• Genuine ownership of improvement initiatives, not just business-as-usual support

THE ROLE

Working within the technology function, you’ll be responsible for keeping critical infrastructure secure and recoverable, driving patching and backup maturity, and strengthening identity and access controls across the environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and delivering routine and vulnerability-driven patching across VMware ESXi, storage, firmware and wider infrastructure
• Improving patch coverage, visibility and automation using Ansible or similar tooling
• Administering and optimising the Rubrik backup platform, including policies, capacity, upgrades and restores, with a focus on ransomware resilience
• Supporting storage optimisation, consolidation and decommissioning, and maintaining build standards that underpin disaster recovery
• Managing and enhancing identity and access capabilities including GPOs, SSO, Okta and MFA
• Hardening privileged access across administrative accounts, jump hosts and management interfaces
• Remediating configuration weaknesses and contributing to security design across the broader infrastructure estate
• Improving Microsoft Defender/EDR health and coverage, managing exceptions and compensating controls, and supporting Defender for Identity hygiene
• Resolving incidents, service requests and access requests, and participating in an on-call roster
• Supporting incident response and recovery activities
• Maintaining clear procedures, recovery documentation and quality ticket notes, and coordinating changes with partner teams

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years’ experience across infrastructure patching, backup and recovery, IAM and cybersecurity engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware ESXi and enterprise storage platforms
• Rubrik administration experience (highly regarded)
• Solid knowledge of Okta, SSO, MFA, Active Directory and GPOs, including privileged access controls
• Experience managing Microsoft Defender/EDR and Defender for Identity
• Automation experience with Ansible or similar
• Familiarity with ServiceNow and ITIL-aligned processes
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with stakeholders
• Clear, thorough technical documentation skills
• Willingness to participate in an on-call roster
