Injection Molding Process Engineer

About the role

Canyon Asia (Thailand) Limited is seeking an experienced Injection Molding Process Engineer to join our engineering team in Chon Buri. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in optimizing our injection molding operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products to our customers. The Injection Molding Process Engineer is a "hands-on" position that plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing equipment and processes to produce high quality injection molded product. The Process Engineer is responsible for coordinating the molding efforts on new program launches, setting up and/or revising manufacturing processes and assisting the manufacturing operations in problem solving and continuous process improvements. While monitoring the effectiveness of processes this individual quantifies results, documents and presents findings to management and prepares reports. This position also mentors and provides training to other injection molding personnel.

Key responsibilities

1. Lead, train, coach, and develop production employees to achieve operational objectives, product quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
2. Evaluate employee performance, technical competencies, and interpersonal skills; provide constructive feedback and implement development plans to enhance individual and team effectiveness.
3. Plan, schedule, and assign manpower according to production requirements, machine capacity, and manufacturing schedules to maximize productivity and efficiency.
4. Design, develop, optimize, and maintain injection molding processes for new and existing products, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and production requirements.
5. Establish, validate, and control molding process parameters, including machine setup, mold changeovers, cycle time optimization, scrap reduction, and process stability improvements.
6. Troubleshoot and resolve injection molding process issues, equipment-related problems, material variations, and product defects to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
7. Develop and improve robot programs, molding processes, and manufacturing methods to enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
8. Monitor production performance, labor utilization, manufacturing costs, quality indicators, and process capability; analyze data and implement corrective and preventive actions.
9. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Tooling, Maintenance, and Product Development teams to ensure manufacturability, optimal mold design, and successful product launches.
10. Create and maintain process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, setup sheets, process flow diagrams, and validation records.
11. Conduct material evaluations and recommend suitable resins, additives, and processing methods to meet product specifications and customer requirements.
12. Support tooling and equipment selection, procurement, installation, and qualification by providing technical specifications and performance requirements.
13. Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, mold change time reduction, scrap reduction, process capability enhancement, and operational excellence.
14. Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements within manufacturing operations.
15. Participate in management review meetings to present production results, process performance, improvement activities, and operational priorities.
16. Oversee machine utilities and facility maintenance activities to ensure the reliability, availability, and safe operation of manufacturing equipment, utility systems, and facility infrastructure, while supporting uninterrupted production operations.
17. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
18. Implement and maintain 5S standards to ensure workplace cleanliness, safety, organization, and operational efficiency throughout the manufacturing area.

What we're looking for

1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
2. Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in injection molding process engineering or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
3. In-depth knowledge of injection molding processes, equipment, tooling and material science.
4. Strong and diverse technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing and quality.
5. Strong understanding of quality management systems and statistical process control methodologies
6. Excellent problem-solving abilities with a systematic approach to process optimization and troubleshooting.
7. Demonstrated experience in implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
9. Good computer skill in Microsoft Offices (Excel, Power Point & Word).
10. Proficiency in English; Thai language skills are advantageous
11. Familiarity with plastic materials, polymer chemistry and material properties is desirable.
12. Proactive, positive thinking and high accountability.
