Inpatient Physical Therapist

Job Overview

We are seeking a full-time, 1099 contract physical therapist to work with an aging and medically complex inpatient population in Ward 8 of Washington DC. This job offer will be contingent on a contract award.

Duties

• Develop and implement individualized therapy plans as prescribed by physicians
• Perform full range of physical therapy services for inpatients with varying diagnoses;
• Design individualized physical therapy programs including therapeutic modalities;
• Conduct diagnostic and prognostic assessments of muscle, nerve, joint, and functional abilities;
• Direct and supervise patients in active/passive exercises and functional training;
• Provide patient education for continued therapeutic procedures;
• Consult regularly with medical, nursing, and administrative staff;
• Evaluate and document patient progress and maintain timely Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be a resident of Washington, DC.
• 2-5 years working with inpatient populations.
• Interest and experience in working with ageing and medically complex populations.
• Proven experience practicing in inpatient hospital settings with acute care experience preferred.
• Skilled in discharge planning and outpatient rehabilitation center procedures.
• Ability to develop effective treatment plans for diverse populations including geriatric patients and those requiring home health or outpatient care.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to motivate and educate patients for optimal rehabilitation results.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management systems such as EMR systems for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
• Working knowledge of physiotherapy techniques including trigger point therapy and other modalities used in inpatient rehabilitation.
• Experience working with medical teams in hospital or clinic environments ensuring seamless patient care transitions.

Pay: Up to $75.00 per hour
