About the Role:
Pacific Symphony is seeking a driven, high-energy Inside Sales Representative to introduce and reintroduce audiences to the world of classical music while generating new institutional revenue. The representative will serve as a primary point of contact for prospective and returning patrons, proactively converting qualified leads into first-time buyers, repeat buyers, Symphony Pass members, and subscribers.
The representative will manage assigned prospects throughout the sales lifecycle, from initial outreach and conversion through follow-up, reengagement, and ongoing cultivation. By developing patron relationships and recommending relevant concerts and ticket products, the representative will help increase repeat attendance, customer lifetime value, and long-term engagement with Pacific Symphony.
This fast-paced, results-oriented role is ideal for individuals who thrive on high-volume outbound outreach, use conversational storytelling to build trust, and love the challenge of closing sales while representing one of Southern California's leading cultural institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Conversion: Conduct high-volume outreach to qualified prospects, converting cold and warm leads into first-time ticket buyers, repeat buyers, Symphony Pass members, and package subscribers.
- Sales Lifecycle Management: Manage assigned prospects from initial outreach through conversion, post-purchase follow-up, reengagement, cross-selling, and upgrading. Cultivate buyers toward repeat attendance, multi-ticket purchases, Symphony Pass, and subscription products.
- Patron Engagement: Serve as a brand ambassador for Pacific Symphony, using consultative and conversational selling to understand patron interests, recommend relevant concert experiences, address questions, and communicate the value of classical music.
- Revenue Generation: Meet and exceed individual sales and revenue targets while developing sustainable pipelines of new and returning patrons.
- Patron Development: Build relationships that increase customer lifetime value and encourage deeper engagement with Pacific Symphony. Identify potential philanthropic interest and refer qualified donor opportunities to the Development team for appropriate follow-up.
- CRM Management: Maintain accurate and timely records of lead assignments, patron interactions, follow-up activities, opportunity stages, purchases, sales attribution, and pipeline status in the organization’s CRM systems.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
· Experience: One year experience in inside sales, telemarketing, lead generation, or high-volume call-center environments.
· Communication: Exceptional verbal communication, active listening, and rapport-building skills, with a natural ability to use consultative, conversational selling to engage prospects.
· Resilience: Goal-oriented, persistent, and able to navigate customer rejection or challenging outbound conversations.
· Technical Literacy: Comfortable using standard computer software, CRM platforms, and sales databases.
· Self-Starter and Team Collaboration: Highly motivated to meet individual sales goals with minimal supervision while contributing to a collaborative, supportive team environment.
· Bonus Qualifications: Familiarity with or enthusiasm for the performing arts, live events, symphonic music, or nonprofit cultural programming.
Position Focus & Commission Eligibility Rules
· Target Audience: Develop new and returning audiences, with a strategic focus on cultivating patrons with the potential to become repeat buyers, multi-ticket buyers, Symphony Pass members, and subscribers. The role will work from assigned lead lists and campaigns and will not compete with Box Office or existing Telemarketing responsibilities.
· Eligible Sales: Commission is earned on eligible single-ticket, Symphony Pass, subscription, reactivation, upgrade, and add-on purchases generated through assigned outreach and properly attributed to the representative.
· Handoff Policy: Clear operational workflows are in place for cross-departmental leads. Inbound group sales inquiries, donor upgrades, or structural memberships are handed off to specialized internal departments and do not qualify for base commission.
Compensation:
· Base Compensation + Uncapped Commission: Receive steady base compensation plus tiered, uncapped commission on eligible and properly attributed net ticket revenue.
· Tiered Commission Structure: Commission rates increase as the representative reaches defined annual sales milestones, rewarding new-patron acquisition, returning-patron conversion, and above-target performance.
· Paid Professional Training: Thorough, paid onboarding covering Pacific Symphony programming, conversational sales scripting, and database training.
· Full-Time Benefits Package: Eligible for Pacific Symphony’s comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid holidays, and vacation time.
Why Join Us: This is a unique opportunity to build a high-performance sales career while connecting entirely new audiences to world-class live music. As part of our team, you will:
· Gain hands-on experience in inside sales, pipeline management, and live event revenue generation.
· Work within a mission-driven organization that leaves a lasting cultural impact on the Southern California community.
