Inspector/Surveyor

About the role

This role involves survey and inspection work in commodity inspection services, including supervising inspection activities at port facilities, managing day-to-day operations of surveyors and inspectors, and handling back office coordination. The position requires expertise in cargo inspection, vessel and warehouse supervision, and coordination with port authorities and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect the weight of trucks or containers on weighbridges
• Sample cargo on vessels or warehouses
• Supervise cargo stocked in the warehouse including recording of all in and out trucks/containers (license number, time, and date)
• Check the condition of cargo as instructed and report to the shift leader
• Perform cargo hold inspection, draft survey, tank sounding, and sampling, as assigned in work orders/client instructions
• Perform warehouse inspection, tank inspection, container inspection, and factory inspection and make the report
• Perform cargo condition inspection, quantity measurement, quality analysis, and assessment
• Supervise day-to-day inspection work of surveyors, ensuring procedures, work instructions and client requests are followed
• Make daily reports of loading reports, discharge reports, and warehouse quantity reports
• Be the job coach for new inspectors and/or freelancers

About you

• College degree in Maritime/Foreign Trade/Agriculture/Product Quality Assurance/Engineering
• Working experience as a surveyor/inspector in commodity inspection services for at least 2-5 years
• Able to perform and/or interpret Draft Surveys for bulk and liquid commodities
• Knowledge of inspection service
• Knowledge of shipping/logistics
• Knowledge of commodities, including, but not limited to Soya Bean Meal, Rice, Wheat, Corn, Molasses, Coconut Oil, etc.
• Knowledge of GAFTA and FOSFA (sampling)
• Knowledge of ISO9001 and/or ISO17020
• Proficient in the English language – verbal and written
• Computer skills: proficient in using Microsoft Office
