Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Fireplace Installation & Service Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for installing, servicing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing residential and/or commercial fireplace systems, including gas, wood-burning, and electric units.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, customer-focused, and able to work independently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

o Install new fireplaces, inserts, stoves, chimneys, venting systems, and related components.

o Perform service calls, inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.

o Diagnose issues with gas, electrical, venting, ignition, and mechanical components.

o Verify proper operation, ventilation, clearances, and safety of installed systems.

o Read and follow installation manuals, manufacturer specifications, and applicable building and safety codes.

o Complete chimney and venting inspections and identify potential safety concerns.

o Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other equipment required for installations and service work.

o Maintain a clean and organized work area and protect customers' homes during installations and service calls.

o Communicate professionally with customers and explain equipment operation, maintenance requirements, and recommended repairs.

o Complete service reports, installation paperwork, and required documentation accurately.

o Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.

o Follow all company safety procedures and applicable OSHA, manufacturer, and local code requirements.

o Work collaboratively with office staff, installers, sales personnel, and other technicians.

Preferred Qualifications

o Previous experience in fireplace installation, HVAC, chimney service, plumbing, electrical, or a related skilled trade preferred.

o Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills.

o Ability to read and understand technical manuals and installation instructions.

o Basic knowledge of gas, electrical, venting, and combustion systems preferred.

o Ability to safely lift and carry equipment and materials.

o Comfortable working on ladders, roofs, and in confined or difficult-to-access areas when required.

o Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

o Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

o Professional appearance and excellent customer-service skills.

o Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls or installation projects.

o Experience with gas fireplaces, wood stoves, inserts, and chimney systems.

o Gas or HVAC-related certifications.

o NFI certification or other relevant industry certifications.

o Experience interpreting building codes and manufacturer's installation requirements.

o Previous residential service or installation experience.

Physical Requirements

o Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to approximately 75 pounds.

o Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.

o Ability to stand, kneel, bend, crawl, and work in tight spaces for extended periods.

o Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 50.0 per week
