Instructional Assistant

Position Summary

The Instructional Assistant supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for preschool children. The Instructional Assistant works closely with the lead teacher to support daily classroom activities, student learning, social-emotional development, and the overall needs of the children.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with daily classroom routines, activities, and lessons.
• Provide individual and small-group support to students as directed by the teacher.
• Help create a positive, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
• Assist children with personal needs, including toileting, handwashing, dressing, meals, and other age-appropriate self-help skills.
• Support students during arrival, dismissal, transitions, centers, outdoor play, meals, rest time, and other classroom routines.
• Encourage positive social interactions, cooperation, sharing, and problem-solving among students.
• Assist with preparing classroom materials, bulletin boards, learning centers, and activities.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
• Observe and communicate student needs, behaviors, and progress to the classroom teacher.
• Follow all school policies, procedures, health and safety guidelines, and licensing requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school activities as requested.
• Establish positive and respectful relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a classroom team.
• Patience, flexibility, and a genuine interest in working with young children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain a safe, positive, and nurturing environment.
• Ability to follow directions and classroom procedures.
• Must meet all applicable background check, health, and licensing requirements.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
