Instructional Assistant - General Education

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instructional Assistant to join our team at Orange Elementary. The successful candidate will support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality education to students in a general education setting. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work closely with students, assisting with their academic and social development while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.
• Support students with their learning needs, providing individual or small group assistance as required.
• Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers regarding student engagement and comprehension.
• Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Implement classroom management strategies to ensure a respectful and productive atmosphere.
• Assist in the administration of assessments and standardized tests.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and knowledge.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to support student learning and development.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting student learning.
• Basic proficiency in technology and educational software.
• Ability to adapt to the needs of diverse learners and create an inclusive classroom environment.
• Knowledge of child development and effective instructional practices is a plus.
• Must pass background checks and meet any state or local certification requirements.
