Job Description:

DEPARTMENT: Natural and Health Sciences, Mathematics and Technology Division

APPOINTMENT: 10 Months (Administrative/Professional, Grade 3), Some summer hours may be necessary.

REPORTS TO: Division Chair of Natural and Health Sciences, Mathematics and Technology

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prepares laboratory materials for division courses (including, but not limited to, biology, chemistry, electronics, geology, and physics). Materials include reagents, solutions, microbiology media, live specimens, and other necessary items for the laboratory activities.
• Maintains laboratory equipment, including monthly inspections of laboratory safety equipment and spill kits.
• Collects and preserves biological specimens for future use.
• Maintains live specimens for biology courses.
• Organizes and puts out laboratory materials for instructors and cleans up after lab exercises/sessions.
• Maintains inventory of laboratory materials and supplies, including safety data sheets, making purchases as necessary.
• Coordinates with public safety to oversee proper chemical waste disposal in accordance with safety regulations.
• Coordinates and oversees student and part-time lab assistants.
• Maintains up to date records of lab schedules and lab exercise handouts.
• May serve as the College's Chemical Hygiene Officer and a member of the College's Chemical Safety Committee.
• Other duties as assigned by the Division Chair.

Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in science preferred, associate's degree in science required.
• Experience with creating reagents and solutions for chemistry labs, and biological material for microbiology.
• Strong familiarity with laboratory experiments, equipment, and setups.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Pay: $43,178.00 - $53,108.00 per year
