Instrument Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review instrumentation design deliverables, including P&IDs, instrument index, datasheets, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, and I/O lists.
• Select and specify field instruments (flow, level, pressure, temperature, analyzers), control valves, and safety devices.
• Perform sizing calculations for control valves, orifice plates, relief devices, and other primary elements.
• Support the design and configuration of DCS, PLC, SCADA, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
• Prepare technical requisitions, review vendor documentation, and take part in technical bid evaluations.
• Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), loop checks, and commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and control issues, and lead root-cause analysis for recurring failures.
• Support calibration programs, preventive maintenance planning, and instrument lifecycle management.
• Take part in HAZOP, SIL assessment, and other safety reviews as required.
• Coordinate with process, electrical, mechanical, and piping disciplines to resolve interface issues.
• Ensure all work complies with company procedures, industry codes, and HSE requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, as-built documentation, and handover packages.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or Control Engineering (or a related field).

Experience

• [3–7] years of relevant experience in instrumentation engineering, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, water, or industrial manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with design, commissioning, or maintenance of instrumentation and control systems.
