Instrumentation & Control Engineer

Key Responsibilities - FEED

§  Establish the Instrumentation and Control Design Basis, automation philosophy, system architecture, availability, segregation, redundancy, time synchronization and data interfaces.

§  Develop the instrument index, I/O count, instrument datasheets, hook-up concepts, loop philosophy, junction-box strategy and preliminary cable/termination requirements.

§  Specify pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical, metering and vibration instruments for offshore service and hazardous areas.

§  Size control valves, shutdown valves, relief-valve accessories and primary flow elements; define fail positions, leakage class and actuator requirements.

§  Develop control narratives, alarm philosophy inputs, shutdown philosophy, cause-and-effect charts and package control interface requirements.

§  Define ICSS/DCS, SIS/ESD, F&G, PLC, SCADA, historian, telecom/data and power/UPS interfaces, including third-party packages.

§  Support HAZOP, SIL classification/LOPA, SIL verification inputs, alarm rationalization, human factors and control-room design reviews.

§  Define functional-safety lifecycle deliverables, testing philosophy, bypass/override management and proof-test requirements with Process Safety and Operations.

Key Responsibilities - EPCI, Construction and Commissioning

§  Review system architecture, network drawings, cabinet layouts, I/O databases, logic diagrams, application software documents, loop drawings and vendor package interfaces.

§  Review and approve instrument selection, sizing, installation details, impulse/sample systems, tubing, supports, heat tracing, environmental protection and Ex certification.

§  Coordinate ICSS/SIS/F&G integration, interfaces, cybersecurity controls, data mapping, time synchronization and sequence-of-events requirements.

§  Participate in control-system design reviews, software and hardware FATs, integrated FATs, package FATs and SATs; ensure punch closure and configuration control.

§  Support loop checks, calibration, logic testing, cause-and-effect testing, alarm rationalization, proof testing and commissioning/start-up troubleshooting.

§  Assess field changes and deviations for functional-safety, control-performance, availability and lifecycle-data impacts.

§  Ensure final databases, source/configuration files, backups, licenses, cybersecurity records, test evidence, as-builts and spares are handed over.
